Hunger games trilogy

I don't think I have ever read better books than the hunger games. I don't exactly want to tell you what they are about but more so the impact and effect it has on you and my opinion. You see, the hunger games trilogy is about so much more than a story, it's a message. I think it is warning humans about what can happen to us one day. It's also more than just a love story amongst Peeta and Katniss or that they BOTH win a fight to the death. It's about the fact that she was able to defy the Capitol. When they Ince again changed the rule back to one person winning. When both her and Peeta are about to eat the death berries. It's a sign to show the Capitol that they don't own or control them. Later on its about how Katniss becomes the leader of the rebels in distric 13 once her distric is destroyed. District 13 was supposedly destroyed but they survived and have been living in secret. Katniss now becomes their leader and her and the rebels sign is a mockingjay, also the bird on th pin th distric 12 mayors daughter, and Katniss's only friend besid gale, give it to her once she is sent off for the hung games. But also the first act of rebelling hagaints the Capitol is when she volunteers t be a tribute, when she takes her systems place. Also at the very end of the third book it shows how people react to wars, which is the true message. Once Peeta is recovered from being hijacked jay the Capitol into hating and thinking Katniss was evil and she helps him thhy come up with a game real or not real so he can remember true memories and false ones the caption put into to his mind. Katniss also always (almost every night) has migrates with the hunger games and she now has Peeta to sooth her so is slighter. But urge dreams never go Way. And thhy have two children. She never wanted them but Peeta did so they had them. But if eh hadn't won the war against the Capitol (and so much detail has been left out for I said I would Say its purpose and meaning, not summary) she wouldn't because she did not want her child to go into the reaping for hunger games she didn't want a. Hold to live in that world, but the had one and now Panem was a republic. Qa

Million-Dollar Throw By Sofia

Title: Million-Dollar Throw
Author:Mike Lupica
Genre:Sports

Nate Brodie,"Brady," the "Boy with the Golden Arm" is back! Nate is playing like he used to, like a star. A recent game Nate showed his mad skills and leadership. After being downgraded from a quarterback to a receiver Nate is still showing that he cares for his team, even though he felt bad about letting his team down as a quarter back he is definitely not going to let them down as a receiver. He worked his butt off jumping for the ball and making interceptions and of course trying his best not to drop the ball.

During the game the former back up and now starting quarterback got badly injured on his throwing arm. Nate had to come off the bench as a receiver and change back to a quarter back for that game. Nate again showed his talent and was definitely putting it out there that he was making a comeback. When Nate lined up behind Malcomn his mind was clear. No thoughts, no thought of missing or having the ball intercepted or making a bad pass, absolutely nothing. He lined his arm up and watched the play start to unfold as he backed up and watched as Pete(the receiver) get into place ready for a pass. Nate released the ball. Beauty, the ball spiraled right into Pete's hands giving Valley( his team) the winning touch down.

Here is a cool video that I found. This man is doing what Nate will be doing on thanksgiving night, just to give you an idea.

Goodnight Mister Tom
By: Michelle Margorian
Genre: Historical Fiction

So far I really love this book, but one thing that I like about is is the fact that well i really love books that are in WWII, and usually they are jewish people, but this book is based in England, when the germans were dropping bombs and the adults sent all the children out into the country to be safer. Willie a nine year old boy has gone to the country aswell, and Mister Tom is going to take care of him. At first I thought Tom would be mean but he is actually nice, he has a dog named sammy which I think will be good for Willie, but the things is at first he was scared of the dog, but loves him now. Willie does not talk to much, his mother is not very nice to him. After Willie got there and had dinner and fell asleep in the chair mister Tom went to go take his things up to his room, well mainly he is going to sleep in the atic, but Tom made it nice and comfy. Tom looked inside his suit case and found a belt, some clothes and other things. In the morning they went out to go get some things for Willie and at home, it was a nice hot day, Tom ask Willie why he had his long socks on, Willie said that it was becasue of the bruises on his legs, because of the belt that his mother would hit him with. Mister Tom told Willie that he would also never ever hit Willie. So they went to the stores, got the things that Willie needed, right now I am up to a part where Willie asks if he can go into the shop with all the paints and brushes, Tom said jsut to look outside the window because, he had never been in there since Rachel was there last time, his wife who had died, and always would get excited each time, the smell of the paint. He remeberd one day when she said, "If I painted the sky, I could go through life paintin' nothin' else for it's always chagin'. It never stays still." So here I think remembering her and this shop might be a strong part in this book. But yes so far I truly am loving this book, I really do love it.

Over my whole break I was reading this site when I had time. Since a couple of months ago, I started being into art. I was searching to buy a book about all the famous artists and masterpieces and I found this site. This site is a very interesting place to search visual art and its history. I read the whole site and I would recommend it to everybody. The artist I knew a little about before, Antonio Canova, inspired me in creating my new sculpture. He created many stunning sculptures, that even his plans were put in famous art museums. Antonio Canova was an Italian artist. He knew the meaning of art, therefore, he was known for respecting every type of art. Antonio comes from a artistic family. Everybody from is family is connected with art. For example, his mother was an opera singer. It isn't talked about him a lot, but his artwork is described as very significant. He knew how to create elegant and aggressive separately at any time, but knew how to create and put these two themes together. His artwork was mainly created in Italy, but when was discovered, it was partially moved to the famous museum in Paris, Louvre, and was partially left in Italy for display. I went to Louvre for this break, and I could recognize his work, it is huge and probably took a lot of time. It is said that Antonio has more than 1000 huge sculptures and about 5000 little sculpture he made for his family and the people he loved. Antonio was a very giving person. His most famous sculpture was designed in 1804-1808. His another one of the best sculptures was the winner of "Miss Italian Art" and is called the Beauty Queen. Here are some of Antonio's work:

Edith's Story
Genre Non-Fiction
By: Edith herself

So much is happend but I will tell you the fun and exciting things! But also some sad and tragic things. Edith is so very happy because she has gone to go see her father! Yey!!!!!!!!!!  So Edith is on her way to see her father, she stops off to stay at a house and guess what Jules her brother is there, Edith is just so happy that she can see him. Edith arrives at the hospital more excited then she ever could be in her intire life! When she sees him he looks very differnt because of surgery but she still loves him, she tries to act how she should which is becasue she is the girlfriend of his brother( of course not real, need to keep under cover). ven though she was so happy she could just see the pain that he is having and how hard it is, he could not really eat his food. Edith hugged her father hoping this would not be the last time that she would see him, but she knew deep inside that it would be the last. So Edith had a lovely journey seeing some of her family. Edith is quit sad because her mother and grandmother have been sent to a camp, Edith was told not to tell her father since he is already suffering enough. She also has heard that Jules has been put in jail, because he thought he could trust someone but instead he was a trader. Edith is devastated. Edith has also after a while has had probably the worst news yet. Adries parents come to visit, but they just seem as if if they can't say it to her but they hand her a letter. Edith takes the letter, and goes up tp her room, it was the last letter she would ever get from her father. He had died. Edith sarted to cry, she could not take it, probably just wishing she could scream as loud as she could, just bash her head against the wall. She just felt like there was a masive hole. After a couple of days, Edith was heading out to the farms where they grow starberries, on her way as she rode her bicycle with the wind in her hair she felt free, and then from the top of her lungs not caring one single bit about anything else around her she shouted, " I AM EDITH, I AM PROUD TO BE JEWISH!!" after she looked to see if anyone heard, but she was fine, she was happy.

I have really loved this book, at the end after the war she gets married to a handsome man and they get married, they had twins, and Edith was just happy, happy to have a lovely family, happy to be strong, happy to be jewish and is able to do what ever she wants!

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
by Tom Sawyer

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a continuation of the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. It's plot is near the Mississippi River in the Missouri, exactly where the adventures of Tom Sawyer happened, only probably few months later. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, all his adventures happen near the Mississippi River, on a raft, however not necessarily near the Missouri itself. Huck has his biggest adventure with his friend Jim.

Unlike Tom Sawyer, Huck is poor, but sweet in my opinion, even though he is not that well brought up, nor educated. At the end of the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, he is finally given a home with a widow, whose life he saved in his previous adventure. But because he is so much used to running in the wild, being brought in a rich family is too much for him. And because he got away, he ended up locked up in a shed by his own drunk father. Huck was all the time trying to run away from his father, but in fact he was doing the totally opposite. His dad was so drunk once that he almost killed Huck in his sleep. Huck had enough of this, and who saw no chance of improvement for his dad decided to run away. He ran away, and made it look like he was murdered with only a few things to help him:

  • a piece of saw without a handle. Huck's dad would keep all the sharp things hidden so Huck wouldn't be getting ideas to run away. Once again Huck outsmarted him.

  • A pig which he hunted down and killed so it would look like he was murdered himself.

  • A piece of log and canoe which would help him get away by the Mississippi River. Also he had dust that helped him cover his tracks where he had sawn the floor.

  • His intelligence and skills.

What I find amazing is that with only few of those instruments I just mentioned, Huck had managed to go far. Nowadays we are more likely to take a train than a canoe, and a table to smash the door. But Huck didn't have these things in the hut, nor at his time, so it was more complicated. Life was more complicated in general at that time, such as poverty, racism etc.
In the middle of his journey Huck met his friend Jim, who at that time people called niggers, meaning black boy. His mother thought that she could become rich if she sold him for slavery, and he ran away. Now Huck was his only friend. They had only few things with them for survival:

  • a raft
  • some food
  • their intelligence
  • each other

However Jim's adventures ended when he got caught. He was finally found. Huck was very moved when Jim told him he was the only friend he had left. He of course wanted to find as he called it 'his nigger'. He met Tom Sawyer on the way, but what surprises me is that Tom Sawyer knew all the time Jim was a free nigger, meaning he couldn't be put into slavery. This means Huck and Tom went through all kind of dangers for nothing. And all because Tom searched for an adventure!

Like I said in my previous blog, I find it interesting how Mark Twain wrote his stories using his experience as a young boy. Mark Twain wrote many other books such as: A Tramp Aboard, Life on the Mississippi and many others. Mark Twain will be a famous writer of all times.

"Oh Huck, you the only friend Jim has got!"

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
By Mark Twain

The plot of the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is in the Missouri, near the Mississippi River, at the end of the 19th century. That is the area where Mark Twain grew up, and where he got the ideas to write about the adventures of the two main characters of the book: Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

Tom Sawyer, the little hero of the story, is a very mischievous and daring boy. No matter how upset his aunt, with whom he lived, would get, he would always
fall into some kind of trouble. The boy's adventures required vivid imagination, intelligence, some skills, and last, but not the least important, good companion, and that was Huckleberry Finn.Tom is a naughty child, and very daring too, but had he not been that way, he would probably not have had any of the adventures. In Tom's first adventure, we found out how noble he actually could be. He saw a murder in which the innocent person was blamed, and Tom gathered all his courage and risked his life to talk in front of the judge, to save the innocent man. There are other occasions where we see how kind Tom is, for example taking blame on himself for something he didn't do in order to help another person. Tom Sawyer's imagination led him to other incredible and dangerous adventures, like getting lost in a cave, finding treasure and running away from a criminal. But Tom Sawyer encountered his adventures with a friend Huckleberry Finn, who, unlike him, was poor, but always ready for action. Together the two explorers go from adventure to adventure.

I find this book exciting and interesting. I noticed how a child's imagination can create incredible situations. I liked the way the life of the boys was described in detail, acquainting us with the past. Most of all I enjoyed their adventures and I believe that all children of our age did, and always will, find this kind of literature breath taking. One more thing I should not forget: the boy's language. Mark Twain made their dialogues, and the entire atmosphere, extremely colourful by using the language of the streets certain social circles spoke. This element of story telling puzzled me at first, but as I got used to it, it added to the charms and spell this novel had on me.
My next blogpost will be on the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Tom Sawyer is a cunning boy.

But he is just as well noble
