Flat crazy : a Blanco County mystery

The book Flat crazy : a Blanco County mystery by Ben Rehder is my choice because I like mystery books with a funny and serious situation. This book is about some wild creature loose in Blanco. Some say it is mixed with a vampire because it leaves bite marks on the neck of it's pray. Everyone is trying to catch it or at least find out what it is before it strikes again. I haven't started reading this book yet. Only from the internet because I haven't checked it out I couldn't find it. From what I read I know it is a great book and will check it out Monday morning first thing I come to school :).

My drawing of what I think the beast looks like:

The Secret of Whispering Springs #1

The Secret of Whispering Springs

Author: Jerri Garretson

Number of Chapters: 29

Number of Pages:  204

Number of Pages Read All Together: 25/204

This book is about the Wade family moving into an old stone mansion located on Kansas Ranch, built a long time ago. No one lived in the mansion for about five years and Cassie, the main character and her little brother felt like the house was haunted and there was something strange in that house. When Cassie and her brother checked the house, cob webs and dusts were everywhere along with antique furniture. The door in the house slammed on their faces and Cassie saw an old man through the window from outside. She also saw groceries, table, chair, bedroll and supplies in the barn; which may be the belongings of the old man but she wasn't sure. She didn't really like the idea of moving because of the many rumors she heard from people.

This is the part when Cassie saw the old man through the attic window while her parents were in the house. I chose this scene because they might discover the mysteries of the old man later on and maybe the man had something to do with the things in the barn and the house. I am very excited to see what will happen later on.

What I Learned So Far
  • Cassie Wade is 14 years old
  • There is four people in her family, her parents, Cassie, and little brother Ben who loves electronics.
  • Cassie and Ben didn't really like the house; they were unsure
  • Their parents liked the house; had no problem with it
  • A rancher named Gwynne built the stone mansion in 1882
  • Cassie has a best friend named Jordan Dexter, her grandmother tells a lot of stories about the 'haunted' house
  • Cassie and Jordan have been best friends for about three years
  • Cassie loves art (because she wanted her own art studio in the new house)

Shambles: A state of total disorder.

"That sounded wonderful, even if the beautiful old place was a shambles." (pg. 18, chapter 3)

Squatter: A person who settles on a land or an uninhabited building without payment or rent.

"Cassie, this is going to be our home. If there's a problem with  some squatter who has moved into the barn, we'll take care of it." (pg. 14, chapter 2)

My Mystery Book - Sonia

Title: Holes
Author: Louis Sachar
Pages I Read: 84 / 253
Setting: Camp Green Lake, Texas

For the book report I started reading this book called Holes by Louis Sachar. It is about this boy called Stanley Yelnats, who got accused for stealing something and arrested, and got the choice in between going to a correction camp or going to jail. He ended up going to the camp, which is called Camp Green Lake, where boys his age dig holes that are 5 ft deep and 5 ft wide in every way. So far, I have read 84 pages of the book.
There aren't many clues to the mystery, but there is one that I found quite interesting, and it is when they say that at the camp, the boys dig holes to "build character", but the main character starts to think that the camp is using them to find something important that has been buried where they are digging.
I can't wait to read more and see what will happen next.

Mystery Novel: Five Little Pigs

The book that im reading is called Five little pigs, the author is Agatha Christie. So far I've read 46 pg./ 219.  The mystery is about this girl whose about to get married, but she finds out that her father when, she was about five was poisoned, and everyone believed its was his wife/ her mother, and so the women was sent to jail instead of being hanged, unfortunately she dies a year later.  The girl, Carla, gets a letter for her 28th birthday that was kept by the people who raised, the letter is from her mother, in it her mother claims to be innocent. And, so Carla hires M.Pairot, a famous detective to find out weather her mother was truly innocent. One of the words that I didint understand was: scrutiny. Scrutiny means: critical examination. A sentence would be: the scrutiny of deciphering that note took too long.

Flush

Title: Flush Author: Carl Hiaasen Read:11 Judging out from the eleven pages I have read, it seems like a very interesting book. I haven't really gotten to the part of of the mystery, but a cause is building up. Noah talks about his life and his family he has a sister called Abbey and he was born in the back of a car. Literally. He started crying ten minutes away from hospital. This book is so full of fun facts. The unknown word I found was marly. Her hull had settled on the marly bottom at a slight angle with the bow aiming upward. Marly means to resemble or abound in marl.
