The book that I am reading is called I, Robot. It is a sci-fi novel written by Isaac Asimov and is a very interesting book for now. The author of the sci-fi is very well known and some people say he is the best sci-fi author, but that is up to different opinions. 

 It is about how people use robots for all of their jobs.The humans are getting very easier jobs and are using the robots as their workers. Young Susan Calvin is a very famous and successful psychologist. She soon gets replaced by a robot. The robots are as they say a much better breed and they slowly get feelings. The story so far happens only in Susan Calvin's office.

Unknown Words:

Return to the Lost World

"Return to the Lost World" By Steve Barlow + Steve Skidmore is a Science Fiction/Fantasy novel about two friends who end up in the Amazonian jungle on a search for Luke's (the protagonist) mother.

So far, Luke and his friend Nick had to build a glider for a glider championship in Australia. However, during Luke's flight on the glider, a german man tried to assasinate him who was on another glider. He didn't know why, but he knew that the german man was very angry with him for some reason. The German man took out his gun and tried to shoot Luke. One bullet got very close to his head.

Luke didn't want to give the crazy German a second chance to kill him so he moved across a cable car which was in between the two gliders, while hoping that the German wouldn't see it and would crash. His hope was correct, the German crashed and Luke landed next to him to check his pulse. He was dead. The german who was dead had a tattoo on his shoulder. It showed a striking snake coiled around the shaft of a spear. He wondered what it meant.


Arrogant: When somebody has a high opinion of themselves. Sports winners can sometimes be very arrogant.

Coiled: To wrap around an object in a circular motion. The snake was coiled around the dagger.

Throne of Glass- Summary

The book I am reading right now is called Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. It has 404 pages. It's a book about a girl named Celaena Sardothien who is a assassin and she went to what we call jail but they had to mine and whoever tries to escape gets killed by the guards. One day when she was mining one of the guards bring her to Prince Dorian and he says that Celaena will participate in a competition to become the King's champion and after few years she will become free. So Celaena accepts and goes to the castle to participate in the competition and while she is in the castle she meets different people that she will participate in the competition.  

Two words that I didn't know:  
Ramshackle: Appearing ready to collapse 
The opponent looks like its about to ramshackle. 

Maneuverings: a planned and regulated movement or evolution of troops, warships,etc.
The rival had a maneuvering movement.  

Summary-The Golden Compass

The Golden Compass

      In "The Golden Compass" the main character, Lyra, has spied on the Master of the Oxford College. Her uncle Lord Asriel was coming to the College and so the Master poisoned his wine before Lord Asriel got to the College. Lyra doesn't know why he did it but there had to be a reason. The next day Lyra learns of a rumor going around many villages talking about how kids have disappeared. No one knows how they have gone missing or where they are going but as the reader you know. A beautiful old lady asks kids if they want chocolatl, which seems to be a kind of hot chocolate. The way she lures kids in is by her monkey daemon. The daemon has a luring technique that attracts other daemons.

Daemon- There is no translation but they are animals friend that follows you around.

Choclatl-Same with this one but like I said it seem s to be a kind of hot chocolate.

Summary-The Unwanteds

The Unwanteds

I am reading the Unwanteds. So far, in this book a group of almost fifty thirteen year old from the town of Quill gather together to be separated in to three groups. The Wanteds, the Necessities and the Unwanteds. Alex, the protagonist in this book is separated into the Unwanteds group. But, his twin brother Aaron is chosen as a Wanted. Alex and the other Unwanteds are taken to the Eliminators. They all think they are going to die. But then, a frail,old man comes out and takes them to a colorful, magical world called Artimee. They are amazed and can't believe that they are still alive. The, they are told that they can create what ever they want. Where in Quill they have to follow the rules. That is how far I have gotten.

Two interesting words that I found were:

Pungent-Having a strong, sharp taste or smell -  There was a distinct smell-pungent-when the children walked off the bus and gathered along the black gate that led to a farm. Pg.13

172 Hours On The Moon by Johan Harstad

           Hello, I am currently reading a book  for the book project. I have selected the genre of Sci-fi. I am reading "172 Hours On The Moon" which is so far is the most uniquely written book I have ever read. The author Johan Harstad skips around in the book as if his writing style is a kid and the book is the floor when the kid is playing "Lava on the floor". Here is an example of what I mean:

           Chapter 1 is taking place in Norway and the third chapter is all the way in Tokyo while the second chapter is about an old man sensing danger (a way the author chose to foreshadow (the summary will be given in a later paragraph)) in a nursing home in neither Norway or Japan. However, I am not complaining about the confusion this book is causing as it just as enjoyable to read as confusing and the feeling relief when finally understanding the logic behind the setting of the chapter is very delightful to receive.

             Now I will summarize what I have read so far so that you can look at the story from my perspective. So far Nasa has issued a raffle to send three teenagers 14 - 18 to go to the moon. Kids from all around the world are signing up accept a few kids whom this book is about."172 Hours On The Moon" is written in third person perspective where the narrator is omniscient. This book is about what happens with the three teenagers who won NASA's raffle and went to the moon for 3 days. In the first chapter "Opurtunity" we were introduced to the first character Mia Nomeland. We found that she is a musician who plays for a local band called "Rouge Sqaudron", her age is unidentified however to match the requirements of NASA she should be anywhere from 14 to 18 years. One more thing we found out about here was that she doesn't want to go to the moon. In the second chapter we are introduced to an old man who is now in a nursery. He used to work for NASA at their base in the middle of the Mojave Desert. He is now quite old and very ignorant so ignorant that now whenever he tries to think he starts having headaches. When their caretaker tells the elders about this raffel and shows them the picture of the camp Mr. Himmelfarb recalls something related to the images and senses great danger ahead. In the third chapter a character called Midori who is from Tokyo was presented to us. She is a girl from Tokyo who doesn't want to live a regural Japanese girls life as they are expected to be married at the age of 25 and leave any job or education to take care of the home and the in-laws. Midori wanted to go and settle to New York at around 18 to study and to settle like her older sister who went to Europe. She also never wanted to get married, date and live with friends but never marry.

                   This was the summary of how far I had read in this book. I found it interesting how the chapters even if were taking place all over the world it still had a order or a connection which was - each chapter was talking about different possibilities of teenagers who don't want to go but possibly end up going any way. Overall if just by reading a few chapters you can judge wether you liked the book or not then I'd say that I like this book, through every chapter I get sucked into the world of 172 Hours On The Moon.

The House Of The Scorpion

The novel "The House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer takes place in in Mexico . The first chapter has told of how a scientist is working in a laboratory on some cells. We soon find out that Eduardo is working on cloning cells. We find out that if cells start duplicating they are placeed inside a cow where they will grow into humans. Soon after most of the cells die of and he is left with only one. Eduardo knows if the cell fails he will lose his job and be sent away to the "Farms". So far I do not know what the "Farms" are. Lucky the one cell succeeds and after a period of time a baby is born. At birth the babies are injected with something to make them brain dead. His assistant stops him from doing that to the new born. She says it is a Matteo Alacrán and those are "left intact".
