The city of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau blog by Matija

The city of Ember is a Science-fiction book written in the future. This book takes place in the city of Ember. Ember was built long ago, most probably underground since it never has natural light. They have  lamps and light bulbs everywhere. The people who built Ember predicted it will last long but not as long as it's lasting. It is more than 200 years old but it is not clear how old because the time keepers sometimes did not perform these duties properly. The city is starting to break down and there is no way they can maintain it properly.  Also they are running out of supplies like medicine, food, light bulbs. Most of the technology they had is broken down. Their citizens are living in poverty covering only their basic needs. They are trying to recycle everything they could without complaining. It is always cold and they all ware coats with lots of patches because there are no new coats in their supplies nor needles and materials to sew new ones. Unfortunately the city is surrounded by darkness and trash. There are more and more shortages of light. The electricians are not able to repair the generator so industriously as before. Without light people are not able to see what to do and where to go. People in Ember are nice but some of them are becoming very grouchy. When the light suddenly turns off there are people screaming of terror thinking the light will not turn on again. The city authorities are lying the citizens that the solution for light breakdowns is found. Most of Ember citizens are aware that the city is breaking down. Some of them are waiting for the builders to come back and save them but some of them are hoping that they are going to find the way to save the city. It is obvious that the city of Ember urgently needs renovating.

Throne of Glass- Setting

The main setting of my book is in the palace, but another important setting is in Endovier and there are flashbacks of  that place. The book takes place in the alternative past so the clothes that they wear are from olden days. They wear corset dresses and tunics. One part of the palace is made out of glass and Celeanea hates the palace. The room where Celeanea is staying has guards guarding her room and it is described that her room is made of stone. The setting is mostly inside and there is no description of how it looks outside .

Messenger setting

The book that I am reading for my third book report is called Messenger. The Author of the book is Lois Lowry. The book was published in 2004, I don't know exactly when. I just know that the main character lives in a velige so the story is probably going to be happening there. It does not say in the book about country or city.

I, Robot - setting

I, Robot is a sci-fi novel written by Isaac Asimov and it takes place in our past but the book was written before 1940 and it was the future then. The book takes place 1998 and it is happening on a lunar base and they there were expeditions to Mercury and Mars. Space doesn't have weather so I couldn't write about weather but the story also takes place in a stuffy office where the robot psychologist worked.

172 Hours on the moon - Setting

Hello I am Vishesh and I am reading 172 Hours on The Moon written by John Haarstad, so far the book has been very interesting, it is a bit like tuck everlasting accept it has many more different stories all going on at the same time to hopefully all combine in the end. So far the story is taking place on Earth in year of 2018. Mia, one of the characters in the book lives in Norway, Midori another character is from Japan and Antoine the third teenager the last teenager mentioned lives in Paris, France. These teenagers were delivered an envelope from NASA announcing them to be the winner of the contest, and the letter or envelope also contained a ticket for them to go to New York where their training will start. Once their training is finished they are then qualified to leave earth and go to the moon. The old age care home which was mentioned in the second chapter and the old disabled man who used to work for NASA was situated somewhere in America, specific location was not given.

Return to the Lost World: Setting

"Return to the Lost World" by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore.
Novel's Setting:
This story takes place in many different locations around the world. Because of this, the book has more than one setting. Regardless, the main setting that the story takes place in is the Amazonian rain forest during the second world war where Europe is in complete upheaval.

The story initially begins in Australia where the two main characters (Luke and Nick) came to compete in a glider competition. It also jumps back to England Luke's main home land. Part of their journey to the Amazon takes place on two islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean. The Amazonian rain forest is the biggest tropical rain forest in the world where the weather is always very hot and humid. As Luke and Nick make their way through it, they encounter many dangers such as dinosaurs and carnivores fish as well as really bad weather such as a terrible storm that nearly killed them as it caused their plane to crash.

Dead Connection

I am currently reading a book called 'Dead Connection' by Charlie Price for my upcoming book report. The story is set in the past in a small cemetery called Forest Grove in Plain City, United States. Where Murray talks, apprehends, and listens to the souls of the dead. He gets plenty of advice on problems he has had at school, for example when people make fun of his name, Murray, or when they call him ugly. The most helpful dead  soul is 'Blessed Daughter' but his personal favorite is 'Dearly'.

'Blessed Daughter' died at the age of eleven because of her brain tumor. 'Dearly' died when she was twenty-five from a car crash, she flew right through the windshield and bled to death.

Plain City is a small village in Madison and Union country in the U.S state of Ohio. Until about 1800, the Ohio country was occupied by Mingo and Wyandot Indians. In 1818 Plain City was founded in by Isaac Bigelow.
