Art Spiegelman
Maus
296 pages
This week I’m reading a graphic novel about WWII called Maus.
Basically I’m reading about the life of a man named Vladek and his wife who are
trying to not get caught by the Nazi soldiers. They are building secret
hideouts in the ghettos. Vladek explains, “In the kitchen was a coal cabinet
maybe 4 foot wide. Inside I made a hole to go to the cellar. And we made a
brick wall filled high with coal. Behind this wall we could be a little safe.”
He built them for a small amount of Jews that didn’t want to go to Auschwitz.
In that turn of events he gets caught twice by the Gestapo
but always ends up hiding somewhere else with his wife and another small group
of Jew’s. In the end however, they get betrayed by a spy and are sent to
Auschwitz. Read the book to find out if they survive or not.
I like your post! It has a lot of interesting details that makes me want to read the book. Good job!! ;)
