The main character in my book is Howard Carter.  He was not a professional, and did not have any money to excavate. Here is a quote that  represents this: "He had no education, no money, no family background, and no training in Egyptology. He could speak neither Arabic nor French, and es manners were awkward and abrupt. He was taciturn, brooding, and bad tempered. He didint even gave the robust constitution required for turn of the century archaeology, when diggers lived for months on tinned food, sleeping in tents or ancient tombs cut into the cliffs. He had nothing, but hes stubbornness, and iron determination to make good.
Hes roots were rural and lower class. Hes grandfather had been gamekeeper on a Norfolk country estate, where his family had lived for generations. Carters father, Samuel, had been the one to break away, developing his natural gifts to become a painter specializing in animal portraits" (Daniel Mayerson, 11). Later on the book explains how Carter worked in Egypt as a painter, who would copy down the ancient scripts and sketch other objects relating to drawing about ancient Egypt.

    The main character in my novel is Jane Goodall. Goodall is very patient and kind. She is very fond of animals and now that she has mostly retired she is an environmentalist. Jane cares a lot about animals and nature and her whole life has been centered upon helping and preserving wildlife and nature. She is not very tall and she had blonde hair. (It is grey now) She grew up in England but moved to France when she was five. The intent of her parents was to teach her french. Sadly, they only lived in France for a few months before they had to move back to England because of World War II. She has spent big parts of her life in Gombe, and she started a research center there.
"Gradually, as the weeks went by, I began to recognize more and more chimpanzees as individuals. Some, like Goliath, William, and old Flo, I got to know well, because David Greybeard sometimes brought them with him when he visited camp. I always had a a supply of bananas ready in case the chimps arrived." (Goodall 71)

"127 hours Between a Rock and a Hard Place" #2

 

I am reading a non-fiction book called “127 hours Between a Rock and a Hard Place” by Aron Ralston and so far I read 53/342 pages.

 

The main character in this non-fiction book is Aron Ralston who is also the man who wrote the book after this experience. He looks in good-shape since he is doing a 108 mile bike trail (after this he has an accident and breaks his arm). He seems to be a friendly and a co-operative person given that he was hiking with two other people for about 2 hours (they later separated). He’s optimistic - he is always happy and in high spirits during the trip (this of course changes after his accident). It is clear that he is enthusiastic about his trip since he can’t wait to get to the “Great Gallery”, which is a canyon where there are petroglyphs. Another clue about his positive personality is that he likes music - he brought with him a pair of headphones and his CD player.

A teens guide to world domination

From the last time i posted whats been happening is the narrator/ author leading me through the book is telling me about how to deal with bullies/ Girls/ and teachers. The book is basically a story of this kid who managed to control the best of his world and now he is sharing the information to teach others how to get through the time of being in middle school. This book makes me sound desperate buuuuuuuut i only bought it because of the name and now im really enjoying it. It's a great book and i recommend every one to buy it. It's funnier that Funny.

He is searching for food, because his mother doesn't want to give him any, so he comes up with a way of stealing it from the kids in school because he is really hungry.

Swimming to Antarctica

  From my last blog post there has been a lot of different changes and happenings in this story. So ever since Lynne has moved to California shes been doing alright, better and better every year, and every year she get's put up one lane higher ( the faster swimmers ), one day she had heard about their swimming team doing the swim from Catalina Island a twenty-one mile swim from there to Seal Beach, and she thought twice about it and made up her choice that she wants to do it. The swim was soon and they had to practice hard for it, so she swam in the afternoons and the principal allowed her to skip the last class for her to get to swimming to practice for her twenty-one mile swim. When it was coming closer and closer, they started to practice a lot in the ocean in the mornings( before school started ) so that they could get more and more used to the cold water temperature. The day finally came and Lynne was so excited but a little nervous too, so they headed out on a boat to Catalina Island and then they spent a couple days there still practicing but also getting used to swim in the dark, and getting used to the sleep times too.
  So the day came and they set out for the swim from there, they would be swimming in a upside down letter V with the fastest person up front and the slower swimmers following back, they would be following in the direction of the boat. As they were swimming it was still miles away, if they were hungry or thirsty they would just throw the food in the water hoping that they would catch it ( if they didn't then the food would be soaked in saltwater which tastes really bad ). It was approaching night and Lynne and the others noticed that the water temperature was dropping and getting colder and colder, but they couldn't stop they had to swim on ( the boat lights would guide them for which way to go ). As Nancy was swimming next to Lynne she was getting weaker and the cold water was building up on her more and more, when she said that she's freezing all her teammates and coaches encouraged her to keep going, she kept saying no no, so they decided to take her out and wrapped her in warm blankets, and later on they found out that she went into hypothermia but she's alright now, Lynne was hoping for her to be alright.
  As the sun was rising up, so was she, she was now one of the people in the lead getting stronger and stronger, more powerful, and swimming faster. She was so fast that she had to wait along for her other swim mates, when one of the men on-board yelled that there's five more miles to go, even though it wasn't far to shore everyone was so tired, but Lynne wasn't giving up so easily. When they were getting closer the coach on-board yelled out that Lynne's going to break not only women's but possibly men's swimming records in twenty-one miles ! Everyone encouraged her to swim ahead how much she wanted to and break the record, but she just couldn't;t she made a promise to wait for her swim-mates. Stacey was the last one falling behind, but she was Lynne's good friend so she decided to wait for her, and Andy and Dennis were making fun of Stacey.As they arrived to shore, finally they're there, and Dennis and Andy won the record, and bragged about themselves which made Lynne mad.

Maus - Art Spiegelman

My main character  in the book is a maus  called Vladek which is not young at the time when the story happens. " I was at that time, a young and really a nice, handsome boy" (Spiegelman 13). He is a nice handsome maus who behaves like a human, he walks on two legs, wears smart clothes and talks. He wears jacket, tie, hat and sometimes glasses and is not really very tall.  He lives with his father and his parents are from Poland. His mother killed herself. Vladek likes to draw books. He got a girlfriend named Anya.
He is a busy person. Vladek is a doctor and he makes sure that nobody get injured and he helps other humans to find out things like problems. He also goes on a honey moon with Anya his girlfriend and they both have a splendid time together. The story takes place in Rego Park 1958 when Vladek was young in the past and he can remember and now  he is not real young of the story called Maus.
