During the last weeks in class we have been reading the giver, it is about a whole community, children, adults etc. except there are some things that just seem weird. For example the fact that every person celebrates their birthday on the same day however it is only counted until one reaches the age of 12. During the last weeks in class we have been reading the giver, it is about a whole community, children, adults etc. except there are some things that just seem weird. For example the fact that every person celebrates their birthday on the same day however it is only counted until one reaches the age of 12. One may not choose his/her assignment they will do, instead the head counclers will pick after observing each individual during their years. Jonas is the main character, and in the last chapter we read these are some of the thing that happened:
- The big ceremony is coming up
- Jonas is nervous because he is about to get his assignment
- The first day of the ceremony all the new children get their families assigned and their new name
- Lili, Jonas's sister becomes an eight and receives a jacket with pockets to show 8's are independent enough to keep track of their own things
- The second day, time has come for the new 12's to get their assignment
- The Chief skipped Jonas, he gets very nervous however the chief continues
- At the very end the chief excuses herself, and says she didn't forget about Jonas, but he won't be getting an assignment, he has been selected
- Being selected is meant to be very important (from the Chiefs perspective)
- Jonas doesn't know what that means but tries to act cool
I LOVE that you shortened the events into bullet points instead of writing a lot. Anyone can just get the idea of that event and force them to read the book. Great job!!!
