Hi guys. Here is my second blog for Divergent. So, as you all know too day I am going to talk about the characters of the book I had read: divergent of 487 pages.

The two main characters are Beatrice Prior “Tris” and Tobias Eaton “Four”.

The first I named is a brave and compassionate sixteen girl. During the story she is also idealistic, vulnerable and determinate. Beatrice was originally born in abnegation and, in her sixteenth year of life she had to take the biggest decision of her life like every other sixteen year old: decide in witch fraction she wants to stay. For help take this tough decision the society made a test for every one where it tells you in witch fraction they will be most likely for but in in this test, Beatrice got an unexpected result: she is a Divergent. Divergent are those people who don’t have an identity, or better, they have more than one, in fact, Beatrice was Dauntless, Abnegation and Amity. Beatrice struggle on choosing between her family (Abnegation) or her instinct (dauntless) determined also to found out what she really is.

           

The second character I named was Tobias Eaton or Four. Four is an 18 year old good thinker, looking for people rights strong guy.  He is also one of the dauntless leaders with a mysterious past. As a dauntless instructor, four become Tris (The new Beatrice name) and always more close to her, attracted by her deadly look and her braveness. He helps her throw her initiation process.

     There are quite a lot of antagonists in this story. There is man vs man. Peter is the first enemy in the story and he is working against Tris. His Hate comes from the fear of Tris getting a better score in the initiation score-board. He always tried to irritate her by telling she will lose and never succeed in the dauntless initiation program. Once he even tried to kill her unsuccessful.

Another conflict it’s man vs society. Since Tris is divergent and divergent can’t be control by the society and they’re able to fake in the simulations so everyone is scared of them and everyone except other divergent if they found out Tris is divergent they are going to kill her.

The last main conflict is man vs faction. Erudite are planning something against abnegation and since abnegation was Tris first fraction and her parents are there it will be her responsibility, by following her protection instinct find out what erudite are planning to do.

There are other small conflicts in the story, the tyranny of Eric, the tough training Tris has to have in order to be dauntless, the betrayal from Al and the strange feeling between Tris and Four.

I personally love the determination and that kind of haughtiness and proudness from Tris. And I am also so interested to know the mystery around Tobias past.
