"The Big Four" by Agatha Christie
First chapter
The first chapter basically talks about the main character's trip from Argentine to England. His surname was Hastings. It talks about how he couldn't sit calmly in the train and he would move his suitcases all the time. He was travelling with some folks coming from a war and he was amused by them staying calm when they didn't even raise their look to see the first sight of their country they were fighting for. The first sight of England were the white cliffs of Dover. He was thinking of visiting some old friends and especially one, Hercule Poirot. It also talks about Hasting's and Poirot's meeting and how Poirot should catch a transport and go to Rio because he was hired by somebody, even though Poirot had an investigation of his own, but during their meeting there was an unexpected guest. A man came to Poirot's apartment and was saying Poirot's name and adress all the time. That man was somehow linked with Poirot's investigation. He was saying something else, but I don't want to reveal that. The mood of the novel is kind of cheery. The novel is fast and easy to read.
