Eragon By Christopher Paolini

When I was forced to choose what to read for my quarter three book report I decided upon Christopher Paolini's Eragon. I briskly finished the book as it was so enticing and thus finishing the 739 pages(739 / 739). In the book the two climax's were very near the end like most books. The first was when the protagonist's Eragon and Murtagh were trying to reach the Varden, a group of rebels who were against the antagonist (galbatorix) In this case the varden was seeking refuge with dwarves inside a mountain. However what made this so interesting and tense was two facts. The first was that Eragon and Murtagh were both being chased by a group of Urgal elites known as the Kull. Also, the urgals were blood-lusting creatures who were feared due to their ferocity. The next problem was that to enter this encampment of sorts Eragon and Murtagh had to go to a specific place without a map, and once they got their they had to shout a specific phrase to be allowed to enter. The thing is once they got there the urgals were less than 300 meters away, and it turned out that they were slightly of mark from the entrance to the varden's encampment. Fortunately they were granted entry a split second before they would be killed thanks to the dwarf kings son Orik. Before this Murtagh and Eragon were traversing a desert and a mountain range all while being chased by urgals and encountering slavers. The second climax was when the larger group of urgals began attacking the vardens mountain encampment from inside. However they did this with the help of a creature called a shade which could only be killed by a sword passing through its heart. But to make it even more difficult to kill a shade, a shade could use magic, and was 10 times stronger, better, and faster than an average man. Fortunately Eragon managed to kill the shade, and apparently the urgals were only working together due to one of the shades spells, and when the shade was killed the urgals began to turn upon each other. This was lead by a large stage of preparation and ceremonies as Eragon had made it to the varden.

  1. I like how you put everything into sentences but you should inform when spoilers come.
