Name of book: 13 Treasures
Author: Michelle Harrison
Number of pages read: 350 (I finished the book)
For the third quarter book report I read a book called "13 Treasures" by Michelle Harrison. This book is about a thirteen year old girl named Tanya who has the second sight which means that she can see fairies. She found out about her powers when she was a little girl and since then 4 evil regularly visited her. Even though Tanya's mother can't see them she senses that something isn't right and sends Tanya to spend her summer break at her grandmother's house called the Elvesden Manor. Elevesden Manor was also a home to the groundskeeper called Warwick, his twelve year old son named Fabian, and his old father named Amos. When visiting her grandmother's library Tanya finds a newspaper article about a girl named Morwenna Bloom, who has gone missing about 50 years ago and was never found. After this Tanya's dog, Oberon, runs away into the forest which is located next to the Elvesden Manor, and Tanya and Fabian go into the forest hoping to find Oberon. When they are far into the forest a girl of about 14 years old tells them she has seen their dog. But before Tanya and Fabian go anywhere Warwick comes to them with Oberon. Later, Tanya and Fabian find out that the girl they saw in the forest is Morwenna Bloom. When Tanya and Fabian finally set out to go to the forest they find Morwenna Bloom waiting for them. They realize that she was going to free herself by putting Tanya into her place in the fairy realm, but by then it is too late. Fabian runs away leaving Tanya alone to destroy the lock of hair left by Morwenna to keep her young forever which is why Morwenna instantly turns into an old woman.
