Lisa McMannThis book seems to be set in the future.The places where the story mainly takes place is in the Village of Quill and Artimee. In the beginning of the book it is in the dusty Commons of Quill, during the Purge ceremony in the amphitheater. In this world there is no creativity or any infractions, and if you are, they kill you. This city is very dark and dull. The brightest color they have in the village is the green of the leaves in the trees. which are a very dark green. Everybody in Quill does as their told.
In Artimee everybody is allowed, and supposed to, use their creativity. It is full of magical creatures and and objects that Quill would not tolerate. It is very bright and has colors of every shade and sort. A man called Mr. Today, who is a magician, created the land to save the children. Artimee was created from magic. In Artimee the children can express their feelings and emotions. In Quill they could not.
