Currently, I am reading a book called Gathering Blue written by Lois Lowry. I am very much familiar with Lois Lowry because of reading her book The Giver. In fact, Gathering Blue, is the sequal to her book The Giver which I have already read. So far the only simiarities that I noticed between The Giver and Gathering Blue are that both books are set in the future. Although Gathering Blue is a sequal, this book really differs from the first one. So far all the characters are different than the one’s from the first book.
Gathering Blue is a book set in the future. This book focuses on the life of a girl with an unspecified age. That girl, the main character is called Kira, and she has quite a lot of problems in her life. She has a deformed leg and is an orphan. She doens’t live in a typical societ like ours. Quite frankly, her society is evil. Her society leaves the weak, like Kira, to die in the fields. Where she lives, lives are enforced by rules, much like The Giver’s society. Throughout chapter one I found out that Kira could of been let to die in the fields but because of her mothers refusal to follow the customs she is still alive. This is definitely important to the book because, without Kira’s mother’s she would not of had been alive. As for her life, she essentially can’t do much, like other women because of her physical state.
Unkown Words: Tykes, Cott
Tykes: Is a young, usually cheeky and mischvious child.
Cott: I weirdly couldn’t find this words definition on the Web
Tykes in a sentence:
I cannot deal with these tykes.
Hi Aleksa,
ReplyDeleteThis was very well written and very interesting to read. The connections you made between this novel and The Giver were well thought out and helped support your points. Maybe next time you can read through what you wrote and check for any grammatical errors. Overall, well done!
