Miles To Go

This week I read the book Miles To Go by Miley Cyrus. The main character in this non-fiction novel is Miley. In the novel Miley is 12 years old she is in 6th grade and she hates it. The only thing she is fine with is cheerleading. Miley is scared of the girls that are bullying her '' I showed him the note, and told him I was pretty much scared out of my mind.'' (Cyrus #42)  This quote is about Miley receiving a note from bullies threatening her if she showed up in the cafeteria the next day.  This book is very interesting but I don't like the fact of how Miley is getting bullied. 

Chinese Cinderella #2

The book I am reading is Chinese Cinderella, written by Adeline Yen Mah (馬嚴君玲). This book contains 205 pages and I read 41/205 pages (all together) this week.

The main character in the book is Adeline Yen Mah; the author of this book. She is Chinese and she was born in Tianjin, China. Adeline is the fifth child of the family and her family calls her "Wu Mei". The book did not provide her physical traits but in the pictures on the right, Adeline has black, short hair in both of the pictures. From what I have read so far, she seems like a really nice person and very caring because when all her family arrived to Shanghai in the seventh chapter, her younger stepsister did not recognize Niang, (Adeline's stepmother) so Niang got angry and started beating her up. Adeline could not stand seeing her younger stepsister like that so she protested. Her younger stepsister didn't recognize Niang because she was so little when Niang left her for a year. 

"Little sister was now howling at the top of her voice while tears rolled down her little cheeks." (Mah 34)

"'Don't want you!'" she repeated loudly. "'Aunt Baba! Aunt Baba! Tell her to go away! Go away!'" (Mah 34)

"'Keep still!'" Niang screamed futilely again again and again in a piercing voice." (Mah 34)

"'Don't beat her anymore! She is only a baby!'" (Mah 34)

In this book, the main character is Anne Frank. She writes about her life, feelings, thoughts, problems...

Anne is a girl that is thirteen years old and lives in a time when Nazis occupied Holland in 1942. In her diary she writes all of her real secrets, and all of the truth. Anne is a very smart girl and I would love to have her as a friend. She is not afraid of telling the truth, and considering the consequences. She understands real life problems pretty well, but I think that that is something which is expected from her in such bad time. "In a minute I'll give him such a smack in the face that he'll fly up to the ceiling together with his lies," but the next moment I said to myself "Keep calm! Such a fellow isn't worth getting worked up about." (Anne Frank p.88). These two quotes show how Anne hates lies and that she is determined to say the truth no matter what in return. Sometimes she can get mad pretty quickly, but then cools down pretty quickly. She is a good person that would help you no matter what. She understand problems and hates lies. The book Anne Frank is wonderful and I can't wait to finish the book.

          The book I am still reading is titled "Candy Freak" and it is by Steave Almond. So far, i have read 40/261 pages.





          The main character of my novel is Steve Almond because it is an auto-biography. His characteristics are that he is obsessive and detirmand about his candy. (I could not find a quote because I dont have my book with me) In one part of the story Steve is so encouraged to steal some candy, that he actualy went through with it just to satisfy his silly obsession.

the main character in my book is a man named Joe Slowinski he is a very courageous and loves to take risks because he and his friend liked to catch snakes by the river bed when they were little and he held venomous snakes with his bare hands.  "As the end of the school year was drawing to a close, Craig Maughan, Joe's biology teacher asked the class for volunteers to take care of the animals over summer vacation. Joe immediately made claims to the boa constrictor" ( 12% James Jamie) this proves that Joe really loves snakes.

Ernesto is a young man, who has wavy, black hair and usually has a mustache. He is a doctor along with his friend Alberto. It was when they got fired that they decided to go on that long journey to United States of America. I think this is just proof of his personality; a laid back guy.

He doesn't seem to plan very well. He and his friend just got fired and they think they have enough money to travel a long distance? And to add on, they planned to go by motorcycle. And it is just one for two, full grown men. It is not even a decent one. They had many issues along the way. Tire goes flat, screw gets loose, etc. Also, many times, on the hills, they took falls that overtime damaged the bike. As well, they didn't plan that well; they stay in parks, beaches, friendly people's houses, and some friends they happen to bump into. "In  the kitchen of the police station we were sheltering from a storm unleashing its total fury outside." (Guevara, 53)

the main character of my  book is Isak Dinesen. She is a woman that lived in Africa on her coffee plantation. Isak was born in Denmark. In this book for now there is no description of her. I have her picture. I would say she is thin, has a big smile. Isak loves Africa. She talks about the natives and thinks that they are interesting people. 

I'm not sure if I'm going to read this book for my book project.
