the murder of roger ackroyd - Agatha Christie

I recommend this book to all mystery lovers, I recommend this book to mystery lovers because of course its a mystery and it is for teens, my age kids. It not a really hard to follow mystery so that is the reason I recommend it for our age but little kids might get a little lost, I actually got lost a little at the beginning but I just reread the part and I was fine till the end. I got confused because the name of the book is "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" so I thought Roger Ackroyd was murdered but then they were talking about his wife being murdered and stuff and i was convinced that it had nothing to do with Roger Ackroyd getting murdered but as i read on i found out he got murdered as well. More proof was the fact that I thought the Poirot and Dr. Sheppard were the same person but they weren't and Poirot is actually a famous character apearing in 33 novels and 60 short stories solving why he was so familiar to me.

The Clocks by Agatha Christie

The Clocks
Agatha Christie
Language and Literature
Read whole book
I would recommend this book to people who like to follow each clue and every word the characters says, who enjoys complex investigations. Of course Hercule Poirot solved the murder.
For instance, it appeared there were 4 extra clocks at the room where the body was found.
‘The only thing at all remarkable about it was the profusion of clocks—a grandfather clock ticking in the corner, a Dresden china clock on the mantelpiece, a silver carriage clock on the desk, a small fancy gilt clock on a whatnot near the fireplace and on a table by the window, a faded leather travelling clock, with ROSEMARY in worn gilt letters across the corner. ‘
Also, Hercule Poirot said: ‘It appears to be so complex. If it has necessarily to appear complex, it must be simple.’ This means the mystery is not that complex just the there were some useless items to complicate it.
I wouldn't like to recommend this book to my peers because the story is dealing with adult’s themes brought through the eyes of an adult. ‘Well, he’s gone beyond the Iron Curtain, hasn’t he?’ I had to research about the Iron Curtain to understand what they were implicating.
Most of us would probably have no idea what some of the jobs that are mentioned are. ‘A Miss Pebmarsh rang up. She wants a stenographer at three o’clock.’
There are also lots of rather strange expressions:
‘Chloral hydrate was added to alcohol of some kind – known as Mickey Finn.’ or ‘Why did you really go to see him? Was it purely the milk of human kindness?’
Overall, the book is fun, intriguing and amusing. I think what I like best about it is that the author really provided the readers with all the clues throughout the story so you can solve the mystery, at least part of it. My prediction that Ms. Martindale had something to do with the murder was correct.

Black Ice

Black Ice by Andrew Lane

I would recommend this book to my peers because it is full of exciting adventures, and I know that my peers would enjoy this book, because everyone loves reading Mystery books.
In general just everybody enjoys reading books like the one that I have read. And this book also has a lot of these moments where you just want to know what will happen next, so I think they should really try to read this book.

I would recommend this book to people who actually don't enjoy reading at all, because before reading this book, I was also like these people who don't like reading, but after reading this book, I didn't even realize how fast I actually finished it. This book is just full of interesting, exciting moments, where you just want to keep on reading until you know what will happen.

I would also recommend this book to people, who always judge books by their covers, because the cover from this book actually looks really boring, but once you start reading this book, it is the total opposite.

Murder on the Orient Express - Recommendation

Murder on the Orient Express
Agatha Christie
347/347

I would recommend this book for a number of reasons:

1. It gives an insight into a very complex human nature, motives and actions.
2. It emphasizes the moral dilemma, whether the murder of the murderer can bring justice when the justice system fails. Does the aim justify the means? This is the moral dilemma not only of the main character, detective Poirot, but also of all the people involved in the murder of the train.

Murder on the Orient Express is an exciting story filled with plot twists and suspense. I would recommend this book to people of all ages that enjoy mystery books and who are interested in human nature. In fact, the main detective is known for his ability to analyze the human nature. He can find solutions to most difficult cases just by studying the people, their actions and by making deductions.

The passengers on the coach, 12 of them, are united in their attempt to carry out justice and kill a person who caused death of so many innocent people. The serene snow-covered nature is contrasted with the action, mental and physical, taking place in the train.

The characters are not what they seem to be.  What we see at the beginning of the story is a group of people from different countries with different socio-economic background, travelling for pleasure. They do not seem to know each other.  As the story develops and the murder takes place, Poirot manages to identify their true characters and motives. All of these 12 people suffered greatly as a result of the murdered person’s actions. Their pain is even greater since the murderer was acquitted by the corrupt judge. The desire for revenge and justice united these people.  The only way to carry out justice was to kill the culprit, so they took justice in their own hands.

The plot surprises Poirot, as this is not a common case involving the bad and the good. The murdered person is not the real victim. The murderers are not the villains in this case, but a group of desperate people seeking justice.

Being religious and caring for every human life, this is a difficult choice for him.  For the first time ever, Poirot does not give in the murderers to the police. He lies to the police and decides to stand by the murderers. The real victims were betrayed by the justice system and Poirot knows that the means taken by the group of 12 passengers on board the train, was the only way to punish the murderer for its crimes.

Blog 3 Recommendation
I would recommend this to my peers because I know that a lot of them enjoy this kind of suspense. I know many books that are similar to this one that they have read and they said that they enjoyed it. Also I know that none of them have even read it let alone heard of it.

I recommend this book to people who don't mind reading and love to read because there are many parts that are just plain boring. There are a lot of parts that are exiting or scary but this book doesn't get to the point very quickly. It includes many boring paragraphs describing things that aren't really important to the actual plot.  would say this is for people who are 10 and above because it is quite scary and complex. Also it is hard to understand because there are so many things going on at one time. So I would say it's for older kids. For example at one point it was scary because Johnis and his army went to fight the Horde to get his mom back and the author uses very descriptive words that are hard to understand for non English speakers and younger kids. Also it was so well described that it was really scary.

This book is very unpredictable because at one point this is happening then two pages later something else happens and it's very hard to understand sometimes. For example when the Roush go to town to meet Johnis to give him the silver ring that the Horde left him as a clue. Then in the next chapter he is at the Roush's tree's talking to Marchl and leaving to find an army.

There was a letter from the ghost witch was an especially Interesting because the tower was locked because Juliet's dad had a sister and she jumped from that tower but no one knows why then suddenly the ghosts starts talking to them over letters without Juliet's dad knowing.

Recommendation: I would recommend to those who likes unpredictable books. In this book I could not predict what happen as the story goes on. For me I really like that because then you would not know what is coming up. I would also recommend to other which have the same series book as I have so they can see how different character personality or maybe the sittings.

I would recommend  this  book to some one that don't really like reading because the vocabulary is very easy. It has only 117 pages and a book with that number of pages can be read in less than one week. This book isn't full of mystery. The mystery begins at the last three chapters.

I recommend this book to grade 6 and up. The reason for this is the book may get a little bit complicated at times. The facts are all over the place and some things younger kids can understand. Like when the crows are pecking at the corpus. I would also recommend this book to kid that are not disgusted by the description of someones diced body when they die. Some people may get the chills when they heir something like that. Finally I would like to recommend this book to kids that like excitement and mystery. The book is sometimes annoyed me because it left me with cliffhangers but in the end it all makes sence

Blog 3 Recommendation

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
307/307 pages
Recommendation
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, is an incredible book. It is the book that inspired many other mystery novels to be written. The novel is thrilling, dramatic, and breathtaking. This novel is not easy to read however it is extremely interesting, it contains old english words, that are not used today. The book is a classic and extremely famous mystery book, lots of books, plays, series, and movies are based on it. The language and author's style makes it seems as if you are part of the story, it makes you imagine how London looked in the old days.
I recommend this novel to all of my peers who enjoy reading mysteries and books which challenge the brain to try to solve the mystery, it cause the reader to think. The author provide enough detail so that the reader can follow and attempt to solve the mystery themselves. The book is a compilation of 12 Sherlock Holmes cases, each different and interesting in its own way. The plot in the story is quite complex, and hard to understand because it is split in 12 different cases, however they are all connected they all have the same villain, who is behind the crimes. As you read the book, even though the main character Sherlock Holmes is antisocial and quirky you become connected to him as you read, he is a very interesting character, who is incredibly smart, and if you read it you will marvel at his perspective and the way he solves the cases. The book is filled with action and thrilling moments, the complexity and brilliance of the cases is enough of a reason to read the book.

Everybody can read the book, that is around 11 years or older, because the story is quite complicated and requires thought to understand. Even people who do not like to read, can read this novel because it is divided into 12 short parts, which are manageable to read.

I think this book is very interesting and I would recommend it to my friends who like crime and adventure stories. This book is filled with suspense and drama which always keeps the reader thinking about what will happen next. For example when the ship wreck happened, everybody thought that it was an accident and that there were no survivors. However, later on in the book we found out that the captain didn't die because of the ship wreck, but from a stab wound to the heart.

Another example of suspense in the book is when Nathan the main character is walking through the forest on the island looking for clues about the shipwreck, when he discovers an ancient human skeleton in the rear of the canal.

I would recommend this book to my class mates, because I know that most of them like this kind of books.     In this book Hercule Poirot has a murder mystery  about an old lady called Mrs. McGinty. This book has a lot of twists and turns. I would also recommend this book to people that like mystery's. The first two/three pages aren't really interesting, and I didn't quite understand those parts.  Because this book has a  lot of turns, I had to think a lot about the killer. When you start reading this book and think that it isn't that good, give it a chance. After reading the first chapter, I could't stop reading the book. Hercule Poirot also had a lot of adventures in this book to.

Death in the Air-Shane Peacock Recomandations

Death in the Air
Shane Peacock
English Language and Literature
Pages 254/254

The fantastic novel, Death in the Air, by Shane Peacock is a great sort of introduction to Sherlock Holmes Life. Even though the book is not an original, it is still electrifying and exciting. The language in the story is not strong, so almost any body can read it. However this disappointed me a bit, as when I decided to read a Sherlock Holmes I was looking forward to a strongly written, old English story. Death in the Air was not that, since it was only written recently, but I expected the author to try to imitate the original style. The only attempt to make the book more old English were the accents, such as the accent of the Brixton Gang, the Swallow and his colleges, etc. Sherlock Holmes uses these accents, and without them he would never get to the truth.
I recommend this book to people who like reading, if you are not really into reading, this book is not for you. This is because relatively long sections of the book are quite boring, meaning that there is no action. All that gets people through is if they can really admire the brains of the author and how he got Sherlock Holmes to all of the answers. I hope that people from the age 9 and on will read this book, because the plot is quite complex. You also have to remember a lot of things such as clues and people to understand the plot. For example, when Sherlock Holmes thinks about the Swallow and how he will get information out of him. He decides to change tactics, and then 60 pages later he comes up to the Swallow and starts yelling at him. Or when Sherlock Holmes gets a guard to let him pass, and only explains much later.
However, the action filled end and the whole cleverness of the whole thing were worth reading.
If you like reading, this interesting historical fiction is a nice short read.

The A.B.C Murders-Recommendation

Language and Literacy

                                      Recommendation

I would recommend this book to my peers because it is a very confusing story and has twists and turns that I know lots of people really like in this grade.

In the story, when Hercule Poirot and his friends thought they caught the murderer, the real murderer ingeniously framed the other "thought to be murderer" and got away with it. And a lot of clues with different stories behind them. And it just gets confusing at one point of the story and you would start thinking how Hercule Poirot remembers every small detail. In the middle of the book, I completely forgot about the small clues that turned to be very important.
Because of the strong and advanced language, I would recommend this to people with a good English background and who can speak and understand the language very well.

Yes, I would recommend this book because the resolution is unexpected. I really like the ending which was very surprising. Everybody thinks that Salim got kidnapped or killed. But in the end he is just caught inside a building because of his curiosity of tall buildings. I also liked how smart the main character was. He came up with 9 theories and tested all of them (except two). Then he kept thinking until he came to a conclusion of who they could ask and how he disappeared. I think people who enjoy mystery books in general would like this book.It is very suspenseful and full of surprises.

Sherlock Holmes- Recommendation

Young Sherlock Holmes Fire Storm
Andrew Lane
338 Pages

I would recommend this book to who have read the first few books of this series because this is  the 4th book in the Young Sherlock Holmes Series. Though I read it without reading the first books you can understand what is happening in the book. I would also recommend this book to people who like mystery. The 1st and 2nd chapters aren't that interesting but the other chapters are interesting to read. I would recommend this book because it has a lot of solving skills inside the book, like when Sherlock is decoding some messages the Mr.Crowe left for him. Another reason why I would recommend is that it is a bit adventurous like in the part when Sherlock and his friends are going to be burned alive but they escaped before the fire started becoming big.

Book recommendation

The book I am reading for my book report is the eyes of the killer robot by John Bellairs. This book is really exciting and interesting to read in every chapters but it gets even better and more interesting towards the end. I recommend this book to my friends and to my classmates and to everyone who likes books with killers robots and incredible mysteries.

The Boxes

Mystery
I recommend this book to people who like to read the slowest books. Mostly because of all the detail. It has good detail I have to give it that. Also you don't exactly know what Uncle Marco does on his trips. It is a question you have the whole time reading it. All I know is that the boxes should not have been opened because it only made conflict.

Three of diamonds

I would like to recommend this book to my classmates, or to anyone who likes mysteries. This book is a mix of mystery and humor or so says the summary of the book. I would also like to recommend this book to Adam, Razin because these two are reading the other two books in this series by Anthony Horowitz. I would like to also recommend this book to any other humor lover or mystery lover because it's got both genres covered. It's mysterious at " There was a moment on the other side of the cemetery, I thought we were alone when we arrived, but now I realized that there was a man, watching us..." (pg:16, paragraph 2) and one of the funny parts was just when the detectives at page 2-4 were getting assigned for this case. The client, writer Mr.Carter had come to assign them the case but Tim (the one that messes things up for the duo) kept saying a different name he had to call Mr.Carter. So for example, Mr.Starter, Mr. Farter etc..

Recommendation

Following Fake Man
Barbara Ware Holmes
224 pages

Would I recommend this book?
I haven't fully read the book "Following Fake Man" but I would definitely recommend it by what I have read so far. This is a mystery novel. These types of novels really need to make you think about what is going to happen and how it is going to happen. That essentially means that they need to be mysterious. This book definitely had that component in it. I just felt the tension rising once I was reading because of wanting to find out what the mystery was. I just kept flipping each page like its nothing.

This book also has lots of real life examples that are connected with the life of kids our age(the protagonist is our age). The story is very "normal" and regular other then the climax(when the mystery is revealed). That means that we can relate to the story in some way which I appreciated.

For those people who don't like to read some really creepy mystery novel's this is the book for them. This novel is clearly not as creepy as most of the other mystery novels you can find.

This is an astonishing book and those were the reasons why I recommend it.

Hound Of Baskerville Recommendation

I would definatly recommend the book to anyone who likes reading books because I dont like the horror/mystery genre but this book was amazing. The only bad part are the first 2-4 chapters which are quite boring but that is to be expected because the story has to be setup. This is like 25% of the story but in the end I would still recommend it becuase it has many suspensful moments, twists and red herrings. Like the time when the hound howls and when Watson sees the shadow of a very tall man at night.
The book that I am reading name is "Scum"

The main character in my book (The protagonist) name is Megan, Megan is a girl she has only one brother that was shot and died at the beginning of the book. She is telling the story. When her brother died she was very sad, she missed a lot of school and also her parents (Missed work and stayed at home). I like the book because I think it is very interesting and it makes you want to read more and more.

The antagonist in my book is steel not mentioned because the police are steel tring to find the person how killed Megan's brother (His name is Daniel)

Setting and Conflict Luka T

The Setting of my book takes place on a ship called the Gloria Scott. Every day is a struggling day from the hot sun in the open fresh sea called the Pacific sea. Mostly all of the scenes are on the boat and some are on the land in china for now.

The Conflict in this story is Man Vs Man because on the begging of the book Sherlock was kidnaped by the Pardol Chamber and after in the book the ship gets attacked by pirates. This is also Man Vs Self because Sherlock was very confused and he was mentally week, it was hard for him to get used to the surroundings and to get used to a life on a ship.

Hound of Baskerville Setting and conflicts.

The Setting of this novel is in Most of the scenes in the novel took place in Devonshire, at the Baskerville Hall, The Moorlands, and the Stapletons house. The surrounding of the moor makes an atmosphere of gloom that went throughout the story.  Besides being important for the mood, the moor also lends itself to the plot, where the gigantic hound was to be found and was where where Selden, and Sir Charles Baskerville met their deaths.

The Conflict in this story would be Man Vs Man,Self,Nature and Internal/External all at the same time because Sherlock and Watson are against the dog, against the people that try to follow them etc. They are also against themselves in a internal conflict because they struggle to find out who is the person following them and what does he have to do with the hound and they keep rethinking who they think that person is.

Then the story moves to her cousins house since her mother said okay there must be no danger you can go but her mother wasn't 100 percent sure because that was ages ago and Gilda never traveled alone since her father died. Setting: The sitting happens in many places in this stories, but the most part of the sitting in the book is in London. The time is very hard but if I would say it it is not that past nor future.

Conflict: I think the first conflict is man vs man because in many part of the the story many character tried to kill him. One part he was almost killed by train and in the other part he was locked in a room full locked by Johnny. The other conflict is Man vs Society because when he went to a filed trip some thing got lost and some how it was in his pockets which many people said it was him.
