Anne of Green Gables Finishes :)

This week I finished one book and started another. I will however, only blog about the book Anne of Green Gables it was a wonderful book that I enjoyed very much. I think it was, however, below my reading standard, in fifth grade I took a test to tell me my level, it told me I was at a tenth to eleventh grade level, and I have improved since then and this book, to me; feels like a sixth grade level. The next book I am reading is a challenging book because it is made for the intellectual adult, however I find it very interesting and like the fact that I am challenging my self. That book is called Emotional Roller-coaster  by Claudia Hammond. It is a non fiction book about the psychology and study of feelings. I usually do not read these types of books, but I am glad that I am reaching out of my comfort zone and am exploring new grounds. This book explores the science of some emotions such as joy, jealousy, and anger. Something interesting in it is it says how the length of earlobes has to do with jealousy. Also in the part of joy they mention how when you ask people to write about their emotions when they notice what they feel, anger, fear, and negative emotion pop up more, but when you just call them out of the blue, the positive emotions double the negative. There are many more interesting things about this book that I will have to blog about next week. So until next time!

Week 9 By Sofia

 Title: Going Solo
Author: Roald Dahl
Genre: Non-fiction

I am starting to read the adventurous book "Going Solo" by Roald Dahl. This book is pretty good so far, I've only got to page 30. The book has talked about Roal Dahl traveling on a ship as a guest. They so far have described the other guests, the ones that are his friends and the ones that he doesnt like and even the weirdos. Roald Dahl has passed through Malta from what ive read so far. This book is a non-fiction book about Roald Dahl as he gets old, you see this book it a sequel to boy. Boy is mostly about his years till 19 but now its going on to when he starts to get older. The book includes his airplane flying and his travels around the world.

I like this book a lot and since its by Roald Dahl i know it will be good. I have read almost all of his childrens books and liked them all so i dont think this one will break the chain

Book Report for Week 5 By Alex Thomas Watts

I have gotten a better understanding of the string theory. What it states is that the mind and heart give off an  electromagnetic signal that when meets another's heart and brain, creates the world that we live in. When we go into meditation, the thoughts of one become peaceful and we can be at one with peace. When one is at peace, we can become one with the universe. And as you become one with the universe, you will finally see through the illusion that has kept us in "the code"

When you can see through the illusion, you can perform miracles.

Party Shoes

Title: Party Shoes
Author:  Noel Streatfeild
Genre:  Fiction

This week I read more of the book Party Shoes.  Here is a little summary of what has happened. The kids play keeps getting bigger and bigger.  I think it is getting out of control. They have a band and even horses in the play.   It is getting way out of hand.  Pretty much the whole town is in it.   What I wonder is who will come to the performance if everyone is participating in the play.  I feel bad for Selena because she is getting pushed aside and sometimes feels left out.  In the end she is happy to become the stage manager because it makes her feel important.  In the last chapter I read, they planned out how they would dress about 200 people acting in the pageant.  That is a lot more than originally through but they found a solution. They are making dresses out of this very big piece of cloth the was left over from before the war and black out curtains no longer needed since the war in Europe has just ended.    Some people are donating outfits and the rest will be rented by the children’s father. I have to say, the pages I read this week where the best part of the book so far for me.

Skulduggery Pleasant: Death Bringer by Derek Landy, Genre Action/Thriller

Over this October break I read the sixth book in a series of books written by Derek Landy. It is a magical book about sorcerers. The main characters are, Skulduggery Pleasant, Valykrie Cain, Ghastly Bespoke, Tanith Low and Fletcher Renn. All of these characters have amazing magical abilities, for example, Tanith Low is an Adept who can walk on walls and open locks by saying open. Valykrie Cain is an Elemental who can shoot fire from her hands, manipulate the air, water and earth. Fletcher is the last known Teleporter he can teleport into wherever he has been just by thinking about it.

In this story the characters Valykrie Cain and Skulduggery Pleasant try to prevent the Necromancers from killing half of the world's population. OK, wait, let me backtrack a bit. The Necromancers are a group of sorcerers who get their powers from death. They all keep an object that they put all of their power into and it sucks up death wherever they go. Their ultimate aim is to find a Necromancer so powerful that he or she  can take the life from three billion people and block the life and death cycle rendering all of the other three billion humans immortal. They call this person the death bringer. Their particular death bringer is called Melochondria, she has been changed so that whenever she gets a surge of power it will be put on repeat making her the most powerful necromancer in the world.

I will not tell you what happens in the end but you can kind of guess that the good guys win. I really enjoyed this book, first because it is the sixth book in literally my favourite series, second because it is full of fighting, action and obviously gore. This book often changes perspective, for example in one chapter it is from Melochondria's view and in the next its from Valykrie Cain's view. I would rate this book 9/10 mainly because it's plot is a little predictive but apart from that it's a great book. I would really recommend that action and mystery lovers should read this. I hope you enjoyed my book review, thanks for reading!

A HOLE IN MY LIFE by Jack Gantos

Have you ever thought, of being locked up?
Jack Gantos, was in his end of teenage hood, he became a 19 year old with a fake ID a fast car, and not a lot money he never thought of any consequences of his actions, and that didn’t lead him to the right path. In the summer of 1971 was when Jack lost his freedom going a little bit too far looking for adventure. All he was looking for was money, freedom and of course some action, but he decided to find all this things illegally, he subscribed to help sail a yacht from a Virgin Island to New York city that had loaded drugs inside it.
They were all able to sell some drugs but in the end federal agents caught them and the young Jack Gantos was sentenced at 6 years of jail prison. How will the jail change him???
Before he was in jail he wanted a writing future, 6 years is a long time to write all of your fears, and experiences. Jack Gantos is the author of my realistic book I am reading about, for his time in prison he became a writer, he wrote about his past the fear of being in jail, the future he wanted to have but I am going to have the honor to read step by step all the changes he went threw his life, because of one mistake.

The Game Of Their Lives

The Game Of Their Lives
By: Geoffrey Douglas
Pages:146
Genre: Non-Fiction
Alex L.
How long have people/kids have been playing soccer? Why exactly is it so fun? I personally love to play soccer, it is a game where you can play for fun or to win. For my upcoming book report, I chose this book because it concentrated on the lives of few men who have been playing soccer their lives and how it developed them. The setting of this book is Brazil, which is where the soccer games where played but of course it also talks about other places and different life stories. The Game Of Their Lives is based in the past because the book itself talks about a specific time period: 1950's but the actual story behind the writing could happen to anyone. The book starts out with explaining how lame the locker rooms of this one stadium are and explaining which teams are coming and their abilities. The Americans are described as a second thought because of all the losses and English/Brazilians the best ones. The part I liked the most until now was were it explained and gave example about passive and passionate players. Not only that, after a lot of explanations it goes into the character life's . The big idea at the beginning of the book was about how children started playing soccer with friends because they had nothing left to do so they would gather up and play "ball." Lastly, the first chapters I read through also told about how soccer was a side job for most players because it was the FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER WORLD WAR 2! But not only soccer, anything you believe in, can change your life.
In my opinion I think many people would like this book because already the first few pages are very persuasive and if you are a soccer fan, then it would be great to read about the happenings of miracles to some soccer players.
