The Secret Life of Bees

First this book is not exactly about bees. The settings of this book is South Carolina in 1964.The character in this book is Lily she is a fourteen year old girl. But her mother had a tragic death when she was about the age of four. The story that is told from this death is that her mother and father were fighting then the father had a gun then it fell and Lily accidentally picked it up and then bang. So Lily is always mad at herself for that. Her father hates Lily and Lily hates him. The only person she could get some love from is Rosaleen her black maid. So I have learnt about somethings about Lily's life. But one day on the day of her birthday she goes with Rosaleen to go vote. But on the way these white men are calling her names, she then dumps a tin of her spit onto their shoes and she is sent to jail. Lily's father is furious. He was so mad at Lily and then went to town to get some things so Lily decides to run away. I am excited for what will happen next I hope T.Ray (her father) does not catch her.

Lily seems like a very strong character to me. She has been thorugh alot and its only the begining of the book. Lily wants to go where her mother went and find out more about her. They day her mother died Lily saw her packing her bags so Lily thought she was cleaning out the closet. But T.Ray said she was packing to leave him and Lily that is why they were fighting. Lily does not want to believe that she was going to leave so she also is running away so she can really find the reason. She wants this puzzle to be solved. So read , The Secret Life of Bees.
