Hey everyone! This week I was reading Touch of Power. I have not yet finished, and this is what I read so far. Here is a summary.
Avry has a gift. She can heal the sick and injured by assuming the diseases into herself. Healers are hated amongst all town folks because they are rumored to have spread 'the plaque'. 'The plaque' is a sickness that can kill someone within a few months or years from when they got the sickness. If you catch a healer like Avry (with the special gift) and turn them in to jail, you get a lot of money. They kill the healer there. One day, Avry is caught and turned in. A band of rogues rescue her, but on one condition: she has to heal their friend. Later on, she finds out that their friend is the same prince who actually created 'the plaque'. He has caught it himself and they want Avry to heal him. She says no. This prince has not only created 'the plaque' but also destroyed many kingdoms. She does not want to heal someone like this.
That's all I read! Sorry. But I'll write about it next weekend. I won't promise, because I might finish it before that. :)

WASHING OF WATER? EPHESIANS 5:26 BY STEVE FINNELL
ReplyDeleteWhat does the washing of water found in Ephesians 5:26 mean? Should you, as a believer in Christ, look to creed books and Bible commentaries for the answer to that question or should you look to translations of the Bible for truth? Do you want to trust men or do you want to trust God's written word?
Ephesians 5:25-26...just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (NKJV)
How did Christ sanctify and cleanse the church? The church is the body of Christ. The church is comprised of Christians. How did Christ sanctify and cleanse the church?

Ephesians 5:26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, (New American Standard Bible)
Ephesians 5:26 He did that so that he might make the church people holy, when they were washed with water by God's word. (World English N.T.)
Do you really want leave the interpretation of Ephesians 5:26 to others, why would you not read it and believe what it says?
Is God smart enough to guide men to accurately translate the Bible?
Two choices: 1. Trust God's written word, the BIBLE. or 2. Trust preachers, priests, pastors, Bible commentators, the man on the street, your friends and relatives or creed books, for the truth and nothing but the truth.
Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved....(NKJV)

Thats A really interesting post, I think Avry made the right choice, because I wouldn't heal one who is mean and created the plaque but wants the person who has it to heal him! It seems like a cool book i WOULD LOOOVE to read it :) Great post!
