Mystery Novel Book Report

Title: The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night Time
Author: Mark Haddon
Number of Pages: 268

Summary

This book is a murder mystery but it is not the typical murder mystery novel. The detective is a 15 year old boy called Christopher Boone. He lives alone with his father since his mother was meant to have had a heart attack and died. Christopher isn't like any other person because he has something called Asperger's Syndrome. Asperger's Syndrome is a mild case of Autism. These people are usually very smart in one area of learning which tends to be math and science but not so much English and other subjects. They're not very creative and have a lot of trouble with complicated emotions. They can't communicate with others very well either.

Christopher had gone outside in the garden one day and saw his neighbors dog dead with a garden for in his stomach. He went over and because he liked dogs very much he held the dog in his arms. The next thing he new he saw and heard Mrs. Shears running out and the first thing she thought was that Christopher had killed the dog. She called the police immediately. Christopher didn't mind because he liked the police but when they started questioning him he couldn't process it all and so he curled up in a ball on the ground and made a groaning noise. When his father found out he told the police it wasn't his son who killed the dog. After all this had happened Christopher wanted to find out who had killed the dog but had to do it secretly because his dad didn't want him to be nosy and get himself into other people's business. Does Christopher find out who killed the dog Wellington or not?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it is a book you cannot put down and is not a usual mystery novel. I think that most people who have read or are planning to read this book will enjoy it just as much as I did.
