The conflict is that Christopher's neighbor's dog is dead. He was laying in the neighbor's front garden with a garden fork stabbed into it's stomach. Christopher went over, and because he like dogs very much, held the black fluffy poodle wondering who would've one such a nasty thing. I think the author chose this conflict because apart from a small introduction he just went straight into the conflict and grabbed the readers attention, making them want to read more. One event in this book was that Christopher wanted to find out why and who killed the neighbor's dog but his dad wouldn't let him and so he had to do it without his dad finding out. Another one was when Christopher found out his dad killed the dog and wanted to escape and go live with his mother in London. The author creates suspense by making an interesting event in the book quite long so that you keep reading and wanting to know. One example that shows suspense in the book is when Christopher finds hidden letters from his mother. This event creates suspense because there are many many letters to go through but the whole time you just want to know if she is alive or dead. I think the ending of the text is okay but i think there could have been a concluding sentence that just made you think and created suspense. As much as sentence like that at the end annoy me I really like a book like that. The last sentence I think could have been, "And the next morning Christopher was about to find out he would have to repeat what he had just gone through again, but this time it wasn't his father..."

ReplyDeleteWOW this sounds exciting! I like how you put exactly what you thought it should have said at the end of the book! That really gathers suspense and increases the level of interest! If there was a sequel this would make the reader want to read the sequel even more!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job!
