Hi guys! I choose to read "Gathering Blue" by Lois Lowry for this book report. The book has 215 pages and I read all of them. It was a really interesting book and you should read it too. The first two obstacles that Kira faced are the fact that she was born with a twisted leg and she never got to know her dad. The twisted leg was a barrier for her in many ways. She couldn’t run and help around, which was really frustrating for her. Also, having only her mother in the beginning (her mom also died but she when Kira was a teen) was really uncomfortable. That’s because she and her mom didn’t have a man to take care of them and to protect them. That was a really big challenge for both Kira and her mother. Another big obstacle in her life was when her mother died. That shocked Kira a lot. She was always there for her and defended her when people wanted to take Kira away because of her leg, but now she’s gone and Kira doesn’t have anyone. Surprisingly, Kira didn’t give up and she was still thinking about her future. She also lost her house. Even though she lost her house, she was really good at weaving, and therefore the Council of Guardians took her to work for them and offered her a better house to live in.Hope you enjoyed!
I really liked your blog-post! Gathering blue seems like an interesting novel with a great message. Even though Kira lost everything, she managed to move on with her life and didn't give up. :)
