"Gathering Blue" by Lois Lowry

     Hi guys! I choose to read "Gathering Blue" by Lois Lowry for this book report. The book has 215 pages and I read all of them. It was a really interesting book and you should read it.

     The setting of the book is in the future. How do I know that? Well in the book there are some clues. Even tho they live in a really old way (they don't have houses they live in cots) there is The Singer that tells the history of their world and how it all ended and came to their days so it's future. The place is a really poor village. There is a river that crosses the village and a forest is right next to the village. 

     There are multiple conflicts. The first one is Man vs Man when Kira and Vandara have the trail. They went to have a trail because Vandara wanted to take Kira's place and Kira didn't agree so they went to the chiefs of the village and had a trail. Vandara won and got Kira's place but Kira started a new life. Because of her talent (she was very skillful with the threads, weaving) she was chose to be the one that took care of the Singer's Robe. The Singer's Robe was a robe that had various drawings on it that showed the past. The Singer wore that each year at the Gathering. The second conflict is Man vs Self because Kira had to work everyday and she had to learn how to do threads of different colors. The problem is that she had to figure out how to do blue.
