1. This week I'm reading a book about Genghis Khan, this week I read how he conquered all the tribes near his and made his small empire by killing all the other Khans on the steppe including the most important Khan, Ong Khan. I read how he established rules and laws to keep his empire peaceful. Genghis Khan now rules the steppe and since he doesn't have any enemies he began wars after he sent his son to the forest people north to take their goods. His son returned successfully with new followers and goods.
Quotation - "With no other potential targets, in 1207 he sent his eldest son, twenty-eight-year-old Jochi, and his tumen on a campaign into the area the Mongols called Sibir, from which derives the modern name of Siberia, to secure the submission of the forest tribes and the reindeer herders."
-Tumen means "10,000 soldiers in the Mongol army."
