172 Hours on The Moon Conflict

"172 Hours on The Moon" a sci-fi novel written by Johan Harstad is divided into two sections in terms of conflict. Yes the book it self is divided into two sections, "The Earth" and "The Sky".

In the first section, The Earth, the main conflict was man vs fate. Every single character knew what was going to become of them if they had left themselves in the situations that they were in so they had to try anything which they think might help them out of their situations. For example Antoine was in one of the situation where he is regretting on his choices that had led to his girlfriend and him breaking up so he is using NASA's raffle as a therapy. The same way the other characters are also using the raffle as a therapy for different reasons relating to their pathetic lives.

In the Second part which I'm half way through had the conflict of man vs extra terrestrial as now in the part which I'm reading now the author is foreshadowing that there is something else close to them someone or something who they weren't expecting. Now when they are in the moon and you hear strange noises or find strange unearthly objects then you are more likely to think that you are dealing with an alien rather than a catfish or any animal for that matter. This was (no kidding) my reasoning to assuming that an alien is the antagonist and therefore the conflict (according to me) is man vs terrestrials.

  1. Vishesh, this was very well written. Your analysis was thorough and included a lot of detail. You successfully followed the "Point, Proof, Explain" method. Overall, good job.
