"Children of War" is captivating assortment of interviews written by Deborah Ellis. This book draws our attention towards some of the most vulnerable victims of the Iraq war.

One of the youngest protagonists, Shahid is a ten year old girl, who arrived in Jordan from Baghdad in March 2005. Shahid is a very gentle and kind girl. I know this because in the book it displays one of the letters she wrote to her friend but was unable to send because Iraq had not yet developed a mail delivery service. Shahid and her family are all Sunni Muslims and they despised Saddam Hussain because he was the leader of Iraq at that time. According to this passage, they enforced many unfair laws. Shahid always tried to remain positive even when a lot of things did not go the way she planned.

The antagonist of this book is war. War is a severe event that happens because people have different opinions. A lot of innocent go through war and loose loved ones which is unacceptable.

The main conflict of this book is war, which has caused many fatalities in the world. This war included the Americans who were fighting against Saddam Hussain. War has caused many families to separate and flee their own home country. It has caused many tragedies which are unfair.

  1. I liked how your blog was short and concise, as well as how you included your opinion about the conflict. Great vocabulary usage as well as following the outline of point, proof, explain. Very good overall!
