by: Andrea Warren
The protagonist of the book is Jack, and his family. Jack is a twelve year old boy, with shiny blonde hair. Jack was a lovely child, who loved his family. He was the kid, who always was curious and impatient, he always went outside to explore the world around him. He had a pretty normal life. Until 1939, the time when Hitler came to powers, and started World War 2. Therefore, he was experiencing a barbarous World War. During the World War 2, Jack is being one of the prisoners from the Nazis. But luckily he survived the Nazi death camps, and later he built up a new life in America.
The antagonist of the book is Hitler, and the Nazis. Hitler began World War 2, and destroyed all the Jews. Most of them were brought to concentrations camps, where they were wither being killed by the Nazis, or they fought for survival.
The main conflict of the book is when Jack is brought to the concentration camp. There he had to get through hunger, pain and hard work. Every day, he had to work hard outside, and only got very little amount of food. Every day he felt pain in his body, and every day he was craving for food, like the other ones. But during the time in the concentration camp, Jack also made new friends, and he helped out with the hard work, that some people had struggle with.
This is a bit like what happened to Anne Frank.
