Delirium
by Lauren Oliver
The type of conflict in my story is man vs society, as the main conflict in the book is how the community is against love, and have a cure for it. Having 95 days until her cure, Lena does the unthinkable; she falls in love. Because of the community's multiple laws against love, Lena and her boyfriend Alex have to keep their love for each other a secret from the community, and in the end they are forced to run away from the community. The book is told from Lena's point of view, which allows readers to see the changes happening to an innocent, frightened, sensitive, shy, average, thoughtful seventeen-year-old girl when she secretly and rapidly falls in love. As Lena says in the book, "He is my world and my world is him and without him there is no world." Lena first rejects and avoids Alex, but after a series of encounters with him, and after the time he saves her life from a raid group at a house party, Lena finally realizes that they are meant to be together.
A smaller conflict would be how Alex has so many secrets, while Lena's best friend has so many sides. This makes the story more complex and interesting, as Lena's emotions and reactions outline the fine details in the story.
At first, I thought that Lena would keep avoiding Alex, as she had always been average and modest and stayed far away from anything against the law. Instead, Lena went to a party on a raid night to save her friend Hana, and she saw Alex there, and he saved her life. After that night, Lena could not stop thinking about Alex, and saw him almost every day. My next predictions were that Lena would either get cured and forget about Alex forever, or she would run away from the community with Alex before her procedure In the end, my second prediction turned out to be true. At the end of the book, Alex and Lena try to run aay to the Wilds, but only Lena crosses the border.
i like how you used different conflicts in your post. and i've been planing to read that book
