The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan

Title: The Lightening Thief
Author: Rick Riordan
Pages read: BOOK COMPLETE

The protagonist in this book is a young demigod named Percy Jackson. Percy is twelve years old and has black hair and green eyes which he inherited from his father. He is the son of the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon, and Sally Jackson, a worker at a candy shop. Percy has dyslexia and ADHD which he laters discovers is because his "mind is hardwired for ancient Greek" (Riordan 93) and his ADHD is "battle-field reflexes" (93). He has been expelled from multiple schools. The antagonist in this book is an ancient titan named Kronos. Kronos never appears in the book and is only mentioned towards the end (though he does make appearances in Percy's nightmares) but he is the one who convinces Luke Castellan (son of the Greek god Hermes) to steal the Master Bolt from Zeus. Kronos is described as "unspeakably old and powerful" (320).

  2. Very interesting however as per usual I have to add some constructive criticism. Firstly, explain what a demigod is. I realize a lot of us know however it will vastly improve your writing style if thing's are defined in the writing. Secondly be more gradual. You start out with things you learn at the beginning such as appearance and so forth, and then you just jump on to the end where *spoilers* so and so does this and this. What about the middle of the book. Were is the motive, excreta. And finally something I just want to contribute, Kronos is the god of time so i'm not sure the word "Old" can really apply to him.
