"The Hobbit" by J.R.R Tolkien

The Hobbit
Author: J.R.R Tolkien
Number of Pages: 255

So far, "The Hobbit" has been a very engrossing and interesting book. The first chapter is called "The Unexpected Party." It's about how a wizard, Gandalf, who has a long grey beard, long grey hair,  has a pointy hat, asks Bilbo Baggins to go with him on an adventure, at first he declines. Now Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit, he has: big hairy feet, is short, doesn't want to go on any adventures, and eats around 7 meals a day! Bilbo lives in a "hobbit-hole," and believe it or not that would be like living in a mansion nowadays. Since Bilbo said he wasn't going to join the adventure Gandalf was arranging, Gandalf left a peculiar sign on the door that Bilbo hadn't yet noticed was there and never would have imagined what would happen next... Soon enough, people he had never met before started arriving at his door, first it was Dwalin who had come and eaten all the dinner he had prepared for himself including extras, then came Balin, after those two came twins Kili & Fili, then: Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin and Gloin, and second to last came: Bifur, Bofur and Bombur, and last but not least came Thorin Oakenshield. The reason for this whole journey is to defeat the dragon "Smaug" and take back their home and all the treasures Smaug has stolen from them. They are very determined and need a "burglar" to accompany them. Thorin isn't very pleased at the fact that Gandalf has chosen/wants Bilbo to come and will need some further convincing. Bilbo still refuses to go and he goes to sleep and in the morning no one is there anymore and the whole house is clean, unlike the night before when it had been un utter mess, it takes him by surprise but he is also happy to finally have some piece and quiet. The night before they had given him a long paper for him to sign in order for him to be able to go on this journey and agree to what the list says. He re-thinks the whole thing and then finally decides that he wants to go. He quickly signs the paper gets his bag ready with everything he'll need and is on his way. He soon finds everyone and hands the paper to Gandalf. Gandalf knew all along he would want to join them sooner or later...
