"The Hobbit" by J.R.R Tolkien

The Hobbit
Author: J.R.R Tolkien
Number of Pages: 255

The main character in my book is called Bilbo Baggins. He is a hobbit, (which is why the book is called "The Hobbit"), which means he is much shorter than your average human (half our height). Most hobbit's have giant feet that are very hairy and so they don't wear shoes. Hobbit's don't have beards! They like to dress in bright colours, and are good at disappearing quietly and quickly. Usually, hobbit's are meant to be fatter in the stomach than any other part of their body. Also, personality wise, hobbits don't like to go on big adventures or very far away from their home/"small village," they would rather stay at home read books in their garden/inside house. Bilbo's mother was a tuck therefore Bilbo isn't fully hobbit and he is a bit taller than normal hobbit's. Bilbo is a very relaxed, calm, and an organized person. It shows that he is organized since his house is described as very neat and a house where everything has its place as well as this it is shown because in the 1st chapter Bilbo gets annoyed when his unexpected visitors arrived and basically ruined his whole home and threw plates and cloths, etc everywhere.
Quote from book: "They are (or were) a little people about half our height, and smaller than the bearded dwarves. Hobbits have no beards..." (J.R.R Tolkien pg. 2) This quote does continue to be around a paragraph but it describes everything from the personality of hobbits and how they look physically.

  1. Hi Kaya!

I do agree, Bilbo was a very organized man and he was a bit taller than most hobbits. I never understood why hobbits were so small; that they were half our height (almost like elves). I think you did a fantastic job on your blog-post and keep up the great work!
