The City of Lost Souls

The City of Lost Souls

In the novel The City of Lost Souls, by Cassandra Clare, Clary the protagonist encounters many obstacles, three of which I shall describe in this blog post.

The first obstacle encountered by Clary is that Jace and Sebastian are both missing, after which they find out that the two are bound. As well as that no weapon in existence can sever their bond, without killing Jace.

Another obstacle encountered throughout this novel is that a weapon that could sever the bond between the two could not be found, which resulted in the summoning of a demon, as well as angle. The demon Azazel was not of much help with the search, while the angle was. Although the summoning of the Angle Raziel, creator of the shadowhunters, was one done in desperation and great for he would surely kill all whoever summand him. They left the summoning to Simon, the vampire cursed with the mark of chain as well as Clary's best friend. The mark of chain guaranties no harm can be done to the person cursed with it, although they were not sure how far it's powers reached; would the mark really protect him from those of which it was founded by.

The final obstacle that needed to be overcome throughout the story was actually getting close enough to Sebastian in order to be able to kill him, with the sword they got from the Angle Raziel. That presented a problem since he was being guarded by Jace, which ment that Clary had no choice but to stab Jace with the sword instead, and hope that he is more heavens than hells; because according to Raziel one would need to be more heavens than hells in order to survive getting stabbed by this sword.
