Wormwood is all there is. There is nothing beyond this mysterious and obscure village. Only Virgil Jane; Vega's grandfather, Quentin Herms, and Vega herself are the ones who know of the curiosities that lay in this mysterious place. There are terrible things happening, and things that are yet to come. Vega has found out that this place is only filled with lies, and there was only one reason keeping her here. The Quag. The terrible dark, deep forest that means sure death when you step one foot in. There are beasts in the Quag that would rip your head right off. Yet one Wug (beings of Wormwood) has run away into the Quag; Quinten Herms. He was running from this place, and Vega Jane wants to know why. The conflict in the story is both external and internal because Vega is fighting council and their members to do what is right. It is man vs. Society. Vega has trouble making decisions that will change her life forever.
