The Lightning Thief

The setting of this book is the present at Camp half-blood. As I mentioned in my previous post, a half-blood (aka Demigod) is a person related to a Greek God, who is still mortal. Camp half-blood is basically a camp where most of half-blood kids gather and live (it's like a boarding school). Sometime after a child enters the camp, it's being called by a god as his relative. For example Annabeth is Athena’s relative (Annabeth is Percy’s friend from the camp that helped him find his god, which by the way is Poseidon). The conflict of the book is supernatural vs. supernatural. The main antagonist is Kronos; the father of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. Before I go to the main problem of the story I have to present the background:
- Children of Zeus and Poseidon fought against children of Hades, what caused WWII
- The first group won
- Because of that, Hades promised his rivals that he will no longer have any affairs with mortal women
- Later on Zeus, Poseidon and Hades decided that they will not have any more children, because they were so powerful that they were affecting the mortals world too much (WWII)
- Couple years later Zeus had a child; Thalia
- What caused Hades to break his promise too and “kill” Zeus’s daughter
Because Percy is a child of Poseidon (the god that promised he will not have any more children), he might be in danger.
