The city of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau blog by Matija

The city of Ember is a Science-fiction book written in the future. This book takes place in the city of Ember. Ember was built long ago, most probably underground since it never has natural light. They have  lamps and light bulbs everywhere. The people who built Ember predicted it will last long but not as long as it's lasting. It is more than 200 years old but it is not clear how old because the time keepers sometimes did not perform these duties properly. The city is starting to break down and there is no way they can maintain it properly.  Also they are running out of supplies like medicine, food, light bulbs. Most of the technology they had is broken down. Their citizens are living in poverty covering only their basic needs. They are trying to recycle everything they could without complaining. It is always cold and they all ware coats with lots of patches because there are no new coats in their supplies nor needles and materials to sew new ones. Unfortunately the city is surrounded by darkness and trash. There are more and more shortages of light. The electricians are not able to repair the generator so industriously as before. Without light people are not able to see what to do and where to go. People in Ember are nice but some of them are becoming very grouchy. When the light suddenly turns off there are people screaming of terror thinking the light will not turn on again. The city authorities are lying the citizens that the solution for light breakdowns is found. Most of Ember citizens are aware that the city is breaking down. Some of them are waiting for the builders to come back and save them but some of them are hoping that they are going to find the way to save the city. It is obvious that the city of Ember urgently needs renovating.

  1. Matija, you were extremely detailed in your post but try not to be too detailed otherwise the reader will loose track of whats happening and possibly get bored. It had a lot of interesting points included. There were a few minor grammar mistakes which could be easily fixed. This book sounds really interesting and I cant wait to find out more about this book in your upcoming posts! Overall it was very amazing!!!
