The Golden Compass

The Golden Compass is set in Oxford. To be more specific, Jordan College. It seems to be Spring when the book starts. There is also a Medieval village just down from the College. When Lyra gets the Alethiometer, Winter is just starting. When she starts living with Mrs. Coulter, it is the middle of Winter. Lyra lives in a rich part of Oxford with Mrs. Coulter. Mrs. Coulter has a golden monkey Daemon that has harmed both Lyra and Pantalaimion(Lyra's Daemon). Lyra tries to escape back to Jordan and successfully gets out of the apartment.
it sounds a bit weird and interesting and mysterious I like it
