This book is about a girl named Brooke who lives in New Jersey and has the love of her life, Scott Abrams, even though he doesn't know it. Brooke is a very smart girl and her IQ is way above the Genius Level and work for her is just too-easy, except she doesn't believe in the system they use so she never does her work and has terrible grades. Scott moves to New York and she decides she must too, even if it mean starting over and making new friends for senior year. She calls her dad, who left her family 11 year ago, and she hasn't talked to him for 6 years and asks if she can live with him, he is thrilled and lets her. Later after she is in New York she realizes how much she loves the city and when she goes to school she bumps into Scott and then they become friends. After a while she tells him that she came to NYC (New York City) because of him, and she has been observing him for two years from afar. They start dating, but he doesn't seem to want to move further, he only wants to be physical so she breaks up with him. While she was in New York she made and unlikely friend and became a tutor. Even though her grades are terrible she can do everything without a problem so she starts tutoring this kid named John. He is diagnosed with a disease where he has problems studying, nothing deadly, just makes learning more of a challenge for him. He is so determined to learn. Brooke and John become good friends and she is so clueless how in love he is with her. He encourages her to use her talent and gift for education and she finally listens to him and does what she loves. He also admits to being in love with her and she is absolutely shocked. At first she says she just want to be friends, but then at the end of the book she realizes that when someone loves you that much and cares for you that much, that you hold on and don't let go, so she held on and didn't let go this time
