The Scorch Trials - James Dashner

Pages read: Finished the book

Hello everyone! The book I just finish reading is The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. This book is a science fiction book, and since I watched the movie and read the first book a while ago, I decided to give the second book in the series a go. The book begins with Thomas, the main character, waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall asleep again. Outside the room, he hears people panicking about some people who are the Cranks and are infected by the Flare. Thomas and his friends, the Gladers, go outside to see what's going on and find a room that says "Teresa Agnes. Group A, Subject A1. The Betrayer." Teresa is one of the Gladers and Thomas' partners from the first book. They go on finding more of the plaques and finally they get to a room with a man sitting in the middle. That man is Rat Man. Rat man tells them to go to the Scorch, which is a burned out section of land. They all get the Flare and he says that they will receive the cure when they reach the end of their destination. They walk out and get tattoos on the back of their necks, each tattoo is a role that they received from the WICKED people. They go on their long trek and face many obstacles. In the end, Thomas was so deeply infected by the Flare, that he dies. This book was very detailed and descriptive, and it made me be able to picture the scene and situation they were in.

Two words that were interesting:
Machete - a heavy knife used as a weapon. It originated in the Caribbean and Central America.
New sentence: Our opponents were stronger than us, we had only our fists to fight with, but they had new and polished machetes to defend themselves with.

Sludge - thick and soft mud.
New sentence: As we walked on the sidewalk, we were saving ourselves from having to walk in that sludge.
