Escape From Mr. Lemonchello's Library: Setting

For my book project I am reading the NewYork Times Bestelling novel “Escape from Mr. Lemonchello’s Library” by Chris Grabenstein. I have read 85 pages out of 288. “It is a worthy successor to the original madman puzzle-master himself, Willy Wonka.” Says the Booklist, Starred. The novel starts when Kyle Keely learns that the world’s greatest and most famous game maker has designed the new towns library and is having an invitation-only lock-in on the first night. He’s determined to be there. What he doesn’t realize thought, is when you get in there, there in no getting out. For me this book is something you can read for relaxation but at the same time think a little, it plays with you and that’s what makes it special and interesting.

The setting is in Alexandriaville's new futuristic library.  The outside of the library has the most stunning visual effect: The Wonder Dome. It is ten wedges shaped high-definition video screens that are better than the ones in Times Square. Each screen would operate independently or as a whole, it could become constellations of a night sky or a flight through clouds. Inside there is a children’s room with a robotic librarian and six audio-animatic goslings, fluffy robots that would when someone said “initiate story-time sequence” come to life and sing nursery rhymes. All of this and more was created by imaginers who once worked at Disney World! However, the time is not specified although I would say it is in the present day.

  1. I enjoyed reading your blog post because you explained the setting of the novel very well, and because with only one blog post you have managed to inspire me to read this book myself.
