Five Little Pigs Post #3

Title: Five Little Pigs ( Murder in Retrospect)
Author: Agatha Christie
Pages Read: I read the whole book 219/219

Main Characters:
Protagonist is Mr. Poirot and, even thought the antagonist should be the murderer, I don't think so, because in my book the murdered was a woman who killed her lover, because she didint know what to do. And the story talks in the end about how the murderer/antagonist didint mean to kill the person that meant the world to her, and as soon as she did , she realized that by killing him she killed  herself as well.

Hercules Poirot is a well know investigator, that's about 65 years old. He works as a private investigator. In this story ( as in all the other Agatha Christie novels) he is very official and diplomatic, he works with curios interest in the case, and looks at every detail as close as possible, in this story, he listens to each persons point of view in the events and only then makes conclusions.

Elsa Greer (Lady Ditisham)  falls into the story because 16 years before killing Mr. Crale, falls madly in love with him and so does he. Elsa Greer is mostly described, when talking about when Mr.Crale was still alive, as very young, beautiful, and naive. Most people describe her as not having to take part in the whole story, thogh realy when you look closely you can notice that she was actually the one that caused such drama, that left a little girl to live withot knowing who her real parent are and so on.

Examples from books:

  • “You should have seen that picture Crale was painting. All lopsided. He’d made the girl look as though she’d got toothache….  When one of Crales friends talk about the picture Crale was painting a portrait of Elsa Greer.
  •  ‘She wasn’t very young–tired looking–circles under her eyes. But it all centered round her. The interest–the drama. And yet, half the time, she wasn’t there. She’d gone away somewhere, quite far away–just left her body there, quiescent, attentive, with the little polite smile on her lips. She was all half tones, you know, lights and shades. And yet, with it all, she was more alive than the other–that girl with the perfect body, and the beautiful face, and the crude young strength.’ In here Mr. Frog, another one of the families friends is talking about Elsa Greer at the tie of trail against Mrs. Crale.
