The Secret of Whispering Springs #2

The book I am reading this quarter is called "The Secret of Whispering Springs" and it is written by Jerri Garretson. This book has 29 chapters and 204 pages (I read 48 pages all together so far and I read 23 pages this week.)

The setting of this book is mostly in the Wade family's new house in the prairie hills in Kansas ranch; located in the upscale section of a big city. So far, the Wade family haven't moved into the stone mansion yet but they are still fixing and cleaning the old house so that they could move in around summer. This story takes place in the present day and it is very mysterious. As Cassie discovers more about the house and the upper spring, she finally believed that the house and the area was haunted because she felt like someone was whispering to her. At the upper spring with her brother Ben, he heard soft noises but Cassie heard someone saying "Beware." She also saw a man hiding in the bushes spying on them; maybe the man had something to do with the barn and the man Cassie saw at the window. In the room Cassie wanted, she got dizzy and had a vision of the past (of the house.) She also found a tin full of letters in the basement. In the room alone, she heard another whispering sound saying, "It's my room," "My desk. Don't leave me. Read them." Cassie read the letter to her but didn't want to read any more letters because the letter was too sad.

This is the letter Cassie Read:

                 Nebraska, February 10, 1887
David and I sent you our deepest sympathy for your terrible loss. We pray for the soul of baby John, and for you, that you may find God’s peace and the will to go on. How hard it must be to lose your tiny son, barely two years old, to the group.
Be thankful that Annie is still alive and well. That is a bit of good fortune for which we must thank God. Do not despair. The Lord will watch over you and Johnnie is surely with him in Heaven.
David sends his love. We hope that the next news we hear from you will be happier. The Good Lord willing, perhaps we shall see each other again come summer.
            Your Loving sister, Marie.

  3. It sounds like a sad book. My book's setting is very different and the main character of my book would not like the setting because she grew up on a farm in the forest and has lived all her life in the wild.
