The 13 Treasures - Post #3

The Thirteen Treasures
By Michelle Harrison
Pages Read: 225/355

The protagonist's name is Tanya. She is thirteen years old. The author does not really describe how she looks except for the fact that she has chestnut brown hair that reaches her waist and brown eyes. "Twin faces with brown eyes and dark hair stared back from an olive-skinned face." (page 24) and "Thick, shiny chestnut waves spilled over the bedclothes" (page 203). She is a curious person and she loves adventures and mysteries because she goes to explore in the forest at night with her friend Fabian. The antagonist in this novel or more likely the antagonists in the novel are the fairies that have been annoying Tanya her whole life; "She couldn't remember the first time she had seen them, exactly. They had always been there." (page 4) She never understood why they came; they just did. She had always tried to avoid them and to make herself unnoticeable when they drew near. They always caused her mischief. In conclusion, Tanya is the protagonist and the fairies are trying to stop her from exploring the house and discovering the secrets that the house holds within.
