The 13 Treasures by Michelle Harrison
Review by: Mai Ness
Pages Read: 86/ 355
Summary:
This book is mainly about these fairies that are bothering the main character named Tanya. Apparently she and few other souls can see them. She tries to find ways to make them go away but the situation just gets worse and worse. She ends up going to her Grandmother's house which she detests and gets lost in the forest with the gardener's son, Fabian. Then she gets in really big trouble for running off and tries to find ways to camouflage herself in the fairies' presence so she doesn't get into that sort of trouble again. She finds a few ways to camouflage her presence while fairies are near, though they take much courage.
Review:
The Mystery novel I chose for the Book Report is "The 13 Treasures" by Michelle Harrison. This book is the first novel in a trilogy consisting of another two books called "The 13 Curses" and "The 13 Secrets" also written by Michelle Harrison.
The beginning is a bit confusing because the book starts with an action, so it was hard to catch up with the plot. As I read deeper into the book, I figured the sections of the book move really slowly. The author describes everything really in depth and the transitions are slow. I read about a quarter of the book and the main character is still describing what bothers her.
This book is a little confusing for me because there are too many things going on at once but also the story is moving slowly. I think the author was focusing more on the setting rather than the character because the setting is really clarified though the character is still a bit unknown.
Overall this book is really interesting and I would recommend it to whoever likes magic and mystery books.
