The Giver by Lois Lowry

Lois Lowry
38/168

The main character is a boy called Jonas. He tells us the whole story. H lives with his "unit" (the unit stands for something similar to a family) in a dwelling. In this unit he has an assigned sister who is younger and her name is Lily, his dad  is a nurturer, and his mom is a chief of justice. Jonas is nice, we can see that on the way he treats the old lady while bathing her at the elderly center(pg. 30). He seems also frightened because he does not know what assignment will be chosen for him for the rest of his life(pg. 3). He is a tall handsome young man of "an eleven". He has got dark hair. His special feature are his eyes which are pale while the majority of inhabitants of a community has dark eyes. His head is recently very busy with his thoughts about the future. He is dreaming of the stirrings which is not allowed in the community. As soon as you dream like that you are obliged to take a special pill every morning until the elderly age.
