The Outsiders, Chapter One

The Outsiders
Author: S.E Hinton
Number of Pages: 180

In chapter one of the book The Outsiders it explains how one of the members, Ponyboy from the gang called the "Greasers" Ponyboy gets beaten up on the way back from a Paul Newman movie he had just watched. He loved movies and books, unlike most of his other gang members. He liked to go watch the movies alone but usually liked someone to accompany him on the way back home since it "wasn't safe" for them (gang members) because they usually got beaten up by another gang called the "Socials or Socs." And that is exactly what happened, Ponyboy got beaten up by the Socs but luckily a few minutes later his fellow gang members came to help him. He pretended it was no big deal even though he was very hurt after being punched in the face a few times. Ponyboy wasn't the only one who had gotten beaten up by the "Socs" and he hadn't experienced the worst...

So far this book has been very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading the rest.

  1. I have read till then too. For answering the questions for chapter 1 was a bit hard because I couldn't explain it the way I wanted it to be, but you made a very well written summary! Keep up the great work Kaya!
