The ABC murders.

The ABC Murders
By Agatha Christie

page: 180/207

In the start of the story there is a very big conflict, Poirot gets an anonymous letter from an assassin saying he is going to kill someone, Poirot starts investigating immediately. I think the author did this so that the reader would start to wonder what will happen and continue reading.

Well there are not many events that created the conflict because it was very unexpected, before this happened nothing was really happening, the characters were being introduced. They got the letter by looking in the mail. In the entire book so far they have gotten 3 letters and they were unexpected but they knew they were gonna get another letter but didn't know when.

The author creates suspense by giving away the date that someone will be killed on the letters, it is hard to tell when the murder will happen as in what time. For example the first letter said it was going to happen on the 21st of the month, but poirot doesn't know what tim so as he is on the train he gets the news and it is too late to save the victim.

I think the conflict will end when they find out who sent the letters but maybe they will never find the killer but it is likely they will.
